Tascarella Questions???

I'm looking into buying a Tascarella Cue. Can someone give me the low down on these cues. History? What do they play like? Any little tidbit will help.

I play in the Predator 9 ball tourny up here in NY. At one stop, I asked Eddie Abraham, about his cue. He said it was a Tascarella. He said Tascarella and Szamboti's are the 2 best hitting cues he ever shot with. I didn't ask him to hit with it since it costs about $4500. Tascarella actually lives about 15 mins. from me. There is a 5yr waiting list for a custom cue unless he knows you. I was interested until I heard about waiting 5 yrs.

IMHO, they play as good as any Szamboti I've played with, if not better. Pete bought George Balabushka's equipment and has used it well. Last I heard, four point cues with three or four veneers were going for $1600-2000. Not sure how long the wait is, if you're going secondary market, you will wait less and pay more. I used to know a guy in the Greer, SC area who used to get one every so often and had no trouble selling them fast. He knew Pete and got them a lot faster than five years. I'd have one if I could afford it.
One more edit: I've never hit one of Pete's cues that I didn't like.

I beg to differ on the waiting list.

If you Pay him in full up-front you will get bumped up alot quicker on the list.
 
I consider myself lucky- I spoke w/ Pete Sr. back in 2002, we went over my cue design, specs. Paid a 500.00 deposit. Almost 4 years later I get a call and its ready for shipping. I went with a real traditional looking cue MOP inlays and maple windows. So when I see plain 4 pointers go for $2500 and up I just :grin:

So I take it you went opposite of your poll results? Didnt it say go with Scruggs?

Good luck on finding a Tascarella, they are out there, just gotta have the coin. Hell if I had the coin, I acquire another one.
 
Pete's cues are some of the best playing cues available. I play with one. His primary joint is a SS piloted 5/16x14 and they play great. He makes other joints, but I like the SS the best, so far. Marcus (Fast and Loose) is the resident authority on Tascarella cues, and deservedly so. Click on the link in his signature and you will see some of Pete's best work and information about some of the cues. Try it, if you like SS joints, you will love the feel of these cues. Not that the other joints aren't as good, SS is just the feel I like in a cue.
 
Imo......the Tascarellas Make The Best Traditional Cues On The Planet. He Basic 4 Point 4 Veneer Cues Are Now 2500 From Him With Somewhere Between A 4 And 5 Year Wait.

If You Like A Traditional, Stiff East Coast Cue, Than Pete Is The Way To Go. There Are Other Guys That Build Similar Cues, But None With The Knowledge And Knowhow That Pete Has. He's A Great Poolplayer As Well, Which To Me Is Very Important. (he Knows How A Cue Should Hit)

There Are Also Some Very Fancy Cues Coming Out Of The Shop Now, So They Can Build Anything You Want.
