I will use this thread for updates for the upcoming qualifier in Oslo.

I know that there will be more than 2 players, so there will be some action.

Hope that all you "prophets of doom" and naysayers will treat this thread with respect, and post your negative comments somewhere else :)

Are you playing Roy?

No, but that's mostly because I hardly can pocket a ball, even with ball in hand ;)

Wow, thanks Roy. Keep us updated on Jasmin, OK?

I'll do my best on that one.

Her first match against the french guy starts in 12 hours! Stay tuned :)

Some info on the players that I have information of:

Jimmy Wikman, Finland - 2 bronzemedals in the European Championship

Lars Harald Riiber, Norway - 15 times Norwegian Champion, 3rd in a World TrickShot contest, started to play again because of the IPT

Malvin Bjelland, Norway - Former Norwegian 8-ball Champion. Started to play again because of the IPT. Have played 6 tournaments in Norway this year, won 4 regional tour stop and finished 6th in the 14-1 Championship and 2nd in the 9-ball Championship last weekend. Had for years the highest break for a Norwegian, of 208 in straightpool, made while serving people as bartender in a poolhall!!! (The record now is 267, made by Vegar Kristiansen)

Victor Tapies, Spain - Competed in the World Cup in 2002

Christophe Lambert, France - Do not know much about him, but knows that he is good at UK 8 Ball, which has not been a bad thing for UK Players on the IPT...

Michihito Takase, Japan - No information on google or other poolsites. He hardly speaks English, so will be exciting to see his level of playing

Alexander Dremsizis, Germany - Do not have much information about this guy, but know that he has played some snooker and that he played in the World Pool Championship in 1999. But, any german player travelling to play in a tournament probably knows how to run a rack or two...

Kim Soo Garmark - Former Norwegian Champion for teams. Highest run in straightpool, he lost counting and is not sure if it is 12 or 13 racks.

Jasmin Ouschan, Austria - Finished 17th in the last Eurotour for men, lost only to Nick van den Berg, #1 ranked in Europe. Probably the most talented women player, finished 5th in the 14-1 World Championship for men earlier this year.

If anyone has some information about the players I do not know much about, please let me know...

Who are your favourites to win?

Christophe Lambert is talented, mentally tough and a thoroughly nice bloke on and off the table.

Look forward to your usual excellent hard work to post all the updates Roy,thanks in advance:)

Roy,

Curious as to how many of the nine players paid $2,000 to play. Bet they didn't have a problem sending the money to KT and Company.

keep it coming Roy! As you know will be spending my day behind the laptop to watch you write down the scores. Oh by the way: Europsport at 00.30 with Live commentary of Alex lely.

Myra: I'll do my best for you ;)

Jay: I have no idea who has put up 2 000$, and I won't ask them. You can find the information by searching google or www.internationalpooltour.com. But I do suppose the Japanese since I can't find anything about him by searching the net, I know Malvin Bjelland has a sponsor cause I helped them registrating, and I know that Jasmin haven't won a free entry. However, she's a smart girl so I will assume she has told IPT that they owe her 6 800 $ instead of 8 800 $...

Roy, you are to modest, I am almost sure I saw that happen the other day.

Seriously, Roy is OK, he even beat the ghost in 9-ball, race to 7, not too long ago. But bragging about the ghost is for another thread..

The matches has now begun.

One match started in Round 1 since there were 9 players. Victor Tapies had a bye and will meet the winner of the match in Round 2.

Hopefully we will finish the tournament today, due to the Spanish guy had to gamble on the flights for this tournament. There is only direct flights from his hometown to Oslo once a week, and that's early Saturday.

Round 1:
1 - 2 Lars Harald Riiber, Norway - Malvin Bjelland, Norway

Round 2:
0 - 0 Jimmy Wikman, Finland - Alexander Dremsizis, Germany
0 - 0 Jasmin Ouschan, Austria - Christophe Lambert, France
0 - 0 Kim Soo Garmark, Norway - Michihito Takase, Japan

hmmm... it took 5 minutes after Pooladdict wrote his post till he is standing behind my shoulder reading what I am writing... spoooky...

Pooladdict is for sure a player that should have played this tournament, but he has chosen to at least wait a couple of more weeks to decide if he make a go, for several reasons.

2 - 5 Lars Harald Riiber, Norway - Malvin Bjelland, Norway

Round 2:
2 - 1 Jimmy Wikman, Finland - Alexander Dremsizis, Germany

Christophe Lambert plays really well. Looks like his previous tournaments in UK 8-ball is doing him good!
