TD thread removed

Folks,

This thread has gotten out of hand and I have removed it subject to discussing this with Mike Howerton and Mr. Wilson. When my phone rings off the hook with readers and sponsors complaining about a thread then I am compelled to answer their concerns. I would hope that our readers would respect the forums enough to keep their discussions civil. We at AZB believe fully in free speech but feel that with every freedom comes the responsibility to use it with respect and concern for all affected by that use.

Thanks, Jerry. I hate seeing a tour try to badmouth another one when they should be building each other up to support the industry as a whole. I especially disapprove of calling another tour's sponsors in an effort to pull their sponsorships. I guess this sport will always lack unity

Thread Removal

I have been and will continue to oppose the deleting of threads. Locking threads, I'm ok with.

When you delete a thread, it erases the record and opens the door for innocent people to be harmed by falling into dealings with people that they would not deal with otherwise(if they were to search all posts).

I'm not saying that was the case with the TD thread, but what if it was a thread about a cue maker/seller screwing people?

Owners/Moderators - Please consider the record/footprint that folks leave. It can be very useful to determine a members reputation.

i also wonder what harm would come from reinstating and locking the thread.

If a few posts were over the top they can be edited/modified.

In general I agree. Sweeping these things under the rug and hoping they will just go away is not the proper thing to do, imo. Let the readership judge these posts .... something they cannot do if the threads are removed.

What is the purpose of modifying numerous posts so the thread doesn't get deleted? Doesn't that kind of make it a moot point? Editing one post due to a mistake is one thing but having to edit numerous posts would effectively make reading the thread useless.

I agree in some circumstances it is better to lock a thread and leave it for people to see. I do not think if a thread is locked it should be edited or modified.

for those of us that are not in the "know", who is Jerry Forsyth ? I have visited this forum off and on for a few years now. I believe that this is the first time that I have heard this name.

I know as well as other posters that the owners of this forum can delete/modify anything that they choose (according to a federal court ruling), but I stand against almost all forms of censorship. If there is a problem with underaged kids seeing what is posted here, it's their parents responsibility.

I do disagree with the length of time that was taken to boot EW----T. His business practices were in question for far too long before his banishment.

I also question some who are in business and use this forum to promote their wares. Buy an ad for christ's sake. Don't infringe on the lax attitude toward some. Quit being a freeloader. Some of them might have bought ad space once, but that doesn't give them the right to sell in perpetuity.

I personally dont agree with MJ tactics and agenda regarding the reason why he started the thread. With that said, I dont think it was the correct thing to do removing it. Some of it was informative. Most of us are reasonable adults, who can make our own decisions/judgements on content, and how we process it.

I agree with this one. I am also against the censorship of opinions, which is what this was once the thread was pulled. Close a thread when you absolutely have to as a last resort, but leave it's footprint for the record.
