Ted Harris finally sent the long overdue cues to his customer. I saw the cues on Wednesday evening and I must admit they're absolutely gorgeous. I was almost convinced that it was worth the extra 7-month wait.

The customer was ecstatic to say the least. He also admitted that they're the best hitting cues he's ever owned, and we're talking about an A player here, not a novice.

So, I'll give credit where credit is due. Yes, Ted's got a bad rap from a few of us here over the last few months, but he finally delivered and exceeded expectations by building two cues that are worth twice as much as what the customer had originally ordered. They were never ordered with ivory or Rambo butt plates, but Ted went the extra mile to make up for the late delivery and make his customer happy.

Ted's finally off my s--- list of Cuemakers. I've had 3 of his cues for the last 8 years and I keep them in my car around the year no matter the weather conditions. They're still perfectly straight to this very day. I guess that's why he takes so long to deliver; he turns the cues so many times, patiently waiting for the wood to cure in between turns. Some of us who aren't fully aware of what goes on into making the perfect cue grow impatient and take it out on the Cuemaker. But again, I will admit that Ted's cues are just phenomenal in every respect, and I won't refrain from recommending him once again.

Good for him

I guess we'll give Ted a pass, considering he over-delivered despite the hardships he's gone through recently.

No one's perfect.

Ted Harris................!!!

I've got a Ted Harris cue that hits sbsolutely superb!! I understand he can be difficult to deal with - but in my chats with him the last couple of months - I've got nothing but good things to say about him.

Ted Harris difficult to deal with? We can't be talking about the same Ted Harris I know! ;)

I am very glad to here it, maybe people can change. Every journey starts with one step, and this is the first in correcting a bad reputation.

He's supposed to "not suffer fools easily" so I've probably disguised my "foolness." He's a no-nonsense guy that builds a hell of a cue and I enjoy talking to him.

I wouldn't go that far

He doesn't necessarily need to 'change'. He's just getting past all the hurdles he's faced over the last couple of years, and he's finally getting up to speed on his overdue orders. Yes, he can be difficult to deal with at times, mainly because he's opinionated and doesn't take his time to explain how much goes into making his cues.

In all fairness, I've seen many cues from reputable cuemakers in his shop that he's been entrusted with to fix for one reason or another. He's pointed out various different things that were wrong with other cuemakers' cues which led them to needing repair. If he takes 2 or 3 times longer to build his cues the way he wants them built, then I'm willing to give him a pass.

I am sorry I missed the tournament wednesday! Would have loved to have seen the cue. I thought it would be deserted due to the snow storm! Please describe the cue? Ebony ? CoCo?

Ted has always been great with me. I have one of his cocobolo sneaky petes that I play with in my bar league. I love the hit of his cue and the wood is beautifully figured.

All Ted needs to do is get the business end of his business straightened out. No one to my knowledge has ever questioned his cue building skills. The Ted Harris cue that I owned was literally ripped from my hands by a friend who was unrelenting in his desire to own it. Cuemakers need to understand desire a little more. When someone orders something and they are given a delivery date that desire grows and grows in anticipation, when the target date passes the desire turns to frustration and anger.

Just communicate. Sit down for one hour a day and get the communication out of the way. Calculate realisitic timelines and pad them by a few months if need be. Do those two things and you will have customers who will sell you dozens of cues before they ever get theirs.

I have nothing but good things to say about Ted's work. He is a great person to deal with in my experience with him. Perfectionism is what slows him down but that is not a bad thing.

i was actually hoping to see a couple of pictures of ted's work. i started a thread in the cue gallary. about a year ago i almost ordered one. just wanted to see what i missd out on

Why in the world would you do that? You should get paid for giving them an extreme weather test.
