Ted Harris

Did you try to call him so as to hear it from the horses mouth? 305.677.3434

Whatever it is, it's pretty much worth it...
I remember when he was a relative nobody at a place in Salisbury, Maryland where I stopped off.
He talked me into taking a couple of conversions and a little more dressed up cue with me.
My exwife took them to Texas with her when she finally got out!
Damn I'd like to have those cues back....

No haven't calle only cause it is pay his shop's hours of operation. Thought I could get a quick awnser, seeing as there is always someone in the know on this board. I've been debating on a cue, and I finally settled on Ted Harris no matter how long it takes.

i hear it's pretty long and he's hard to work with. i;ve also heard they're worth the wait and i've only seen one for sale so that might tell you something

I had a Ted Harris cue. If you want to know his reputation, call Kevin Varney. They seem to use the same business standards.

Great Cue

But take his time estimate with a grain of salt. Quote for me was 6 months - actual time over 2 years. He had a lot of health problems. Will get a fantastic cue if you order one - just dont be in a hurry for it.

I will try and defend Ted as I know of some of his problems. He move from Maryland, to GA to Partner with another Guy, apparently that did not work out.

He moved to Florida and got STOMPED BAD BY A HURRICANE. He is back in business, and building Cue, and doing repair again.

Think he is back doing what he did well. Building & Repair Cues, and keeping promises.

I dealt with him when he was in Maryland. He had no excuses. I had to get the BBB involved, as well as the ACA. He no longer appears as a member of the ACA. I'm not the only person who's has issues with Ted. Like I said, he reminds me of Kevin Varney.

My one dealing with him on one of his Cue was a positice experence. The Cue is one of his plane janes, and play well.

How many years ago was that?

Look, I know and understand, first hand, the problems Ted had with delays and empty promises. But, I also haven't heard anything lately that would lead me to believe that things are business as usual.

I'm not trying to protect the guy at all, but at the same time, I don't believe his mistakes deserve a life sentence.

I owned one of Ted's cue. It had one of the best hits of any cue I have ever had. I purchased it from Ted at the US Open and came to become food friends with Ted as we both have health issues with loved ones. Ted is a very nice guy and I beleive the same way he does..."Family comes first". I understand what he did and why he did it and I will never hold that against him.

His cues are very much worth the wait in my opinion...and thats just what it is...my opinion.

Thanks for your time,
jjollie

The year was 2001. Offered 100% money back guarantee. I wasn't happy with the cue the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th time I got the cue back from him after he "fixed" the problems. I asked for my money back - he wouldn't give me a refund and basically used the silent treatment as his response. I had to get Jim Buss involved in the matter on behalf of the ACA, and the BBB had to get involved. Unfortunately, I never received my refund, and was stuck with a cue that wasn't built to my specs, and due to all the shipping back and forth, as well as Ted's "not so honest" shipping methods (claimed twice the package's value on insurance form - unfortunately my taxes and brokerage were based on the insured amount), the $500 cue ended up costing me $1100, plus time wasted.

MAYBE he's gotten better, but I'm not willing to risk it. If I ever buy "custom" again, it's either Southwest or Josey. I've NEVER heard one bad thing about Laurie or Keith in all my years. NOT ONE.

Teddy has has done all my cue work for a long time. I used one of his older cues for a break cue and then started playing with it full time until it was stolen. It played great. He's making me a new one now.

Ted Harris is a good guy, I know him personally and have spent time at his shop. He has worked on my Szamboti now for 4 or 5 years. While Ted may have problems delivering cues on dates promised, its more because he wants the cues to be dead nuts perfect when they leave rather than ship something out that is not right just to make a deadline. The experiences of Shawn Armstrong, I am unfamiliar with that deal but there are always two sides to a story.

Ted has not been on AZB for at least a few years now, so its not like he is going to defend himself from the negs here. This I can say without hesitation: Ted would not knowingly fek anyone over. Ted has a good moral compass and is not someone who is out there moving on people.

After having some bad experiences in the past, Ted is one of the few people I will allow to touch my cues. He lives 3 hours away, but I'd rather have my equipment done right and to me, it's worth the mileage.

With everybody, you will hear good and bad. The problem is that you cannot please every customer that seeks out your services. That's just part of the deal. After you shop around a bit, you eventually find out who the good people are, and Ted Harris is near the top of my list.

Ted's cues play Jam Up!!!! I wish I had never sold mine. I got mine from him at a show so no waiting. Well worth it though.
