Grats to Joey, did they do an age bracket tournament or everyone in one field?

My son won the MA Jr 9-Ball title for 14 and under, but they had a 15-18 bracket as well.

I know from experience it takes some work to reach ever higher in skill and goals, so also grats Joey's parents for the support they gave him to be able to play and succeed in this level of competition.

We'll see you in Vegas Joey

In case he gets really good I wanna go on record as saying I gave him the 7out....just want that out there on the record in case he makes it big in a few years. I whooped him lol.

What a cool story, good for Joey!:)

From the write up... "14 year-old, straight “A” student went undefeated in a field of staunch competitors, ages 13 thru 18, defeating Houstonian Jonathon Romero in the final, 9-4. "

Yes sir Lil Joey has improved a ton over the past 12/18 months. He puts the time in.

I remember last summer at caspers he was rated a C+ playin on the 9 fts and broke and ran a rack twice in the set against Sonny Bosshamer, I thought the building was going to get burned down by Sonny. I had to go hide.

If they had everyone in the same bracket, that's pretty tough. 16+ yr olds generally have a much more advanced game, not to mention just the height advantage alone. Great job that a 14 yr old beat that field.

I know if our state championship put everyone in the same field, the winners would not be the same from watching the games.

Congrats

Stay in school. The Rakin family (2 boys 2 girls) of northern California is a good example of the fathers educational concerns coming first, then pool. If I'm not mistaken, Michelle Rakin the oldest is an MD. My biggest concern for the current American player Shane is how he'll hold up in the long haul. I've noticed he's put on quite a bit of weight in the face and have heard he likes his beer. Beer and pool don't mix. When I see an uneducated pool player win the US Open 9 ball championships, yeah I'm happy for em, but sad at the same time, because this is as good as it gets, and that alone is SAD. No Pro Pool player that I know of, took their kid under the wing to become a pro player. I just hope Shanes family gave em a good education FIRST, knowing what I know, probably not.

Pool, playin' perfect, not missing, seeing feeling and enjoying every moment is NO different than a girl your age giving you and unexpected kiss on the cheek, and you expecting it to always feel this good.

I think part of Little Joey's success is he has a father that really watches out for him and keeps him in line, he's a rock solid kid. He is surrounded by good people, I think it's good job to both Joey's and the support crew around the kid.

I like hearing this. I just hope....your mental foundation has thick walls, and good materials to last. Dad won't always be there. Is the mom supportive?
