I'm pretty sure I can arrange for Danny DiLiberto and John Brumback to drop by for little while. Maybe some challange matches and and a few pointers. Maybe even be a few other players, possibly Earl, if i catch him in a good mood.

Hmmmm.
Maybe a little one pocket exibition match between Freddy and Danny D. could be put together. That could be entertaining!

just more hot air!

When the pro's are there, the table will be a "challenge the pro" table. When they are not there, it will be a challenge table with a list (#1 plays #2, then #2 plays #3, then #3 plays #4, and so on), so unless the room is empty, no one will be playing more than 2 matches in a row. The games will be 9ball race to 3, onepocket race to 2, straight pool to 60 points, full rack banks race to 1, short rack banks race to 2. The player "at the table" decides on which of the games will be played. Wagers will be whatever the 2 players agree on, but $5, $10, and $20 wagers are encouraged.

I would like to see that “new” game 8 ball (race to 2 or 3 ) added to the list. Anyone else?

Same here , I really am not a nineballer ,but do play it .I have never been schooled on the others and dont have a clue to how they are played.

Its always been 8ball and/or 9ball in these parts where I live , I would like to expand my horizons tho'. Maybe some one there could give me some pointers ?

Ratchet - but 8 ball is my game of choice

Breakup,
Hmmm.... 8-ball you say. Is that like 9-ball but with one less ball?? That sounds pretty easy. Okay, 8-ball, race to 2 is officially added to the list.

I REALLY have no idea how long to make these mini-sets - we'll know more by next year.

Willie Jopling

I just got a commitment from Willie Jopling to do an exhibition in the AZ/1P room. He will be at DCC for 3-4 days, between Tues and Friday.

He also issues a challenge to anybody -- pros included! -- at KISS Pool (or reverse pool). That is the game where you cue up the object ball and shoot it into the cue ball, scoring when you successfully carom your object ball into a pocket. He says he has been beaten by only a couple of pros at that game -- Allen Hopkins and one other I already forgot. I'll have to scavenge up his rules...

I would love to try Willie some "IRISH BILLIARDS" with an appropriate handicap of course. I think 9 to 7 should make it about even.

Well I thought I was going to be able to go but the dates are just bad. I'll have to take a week off as soon as we come back from Christmas shutdown. It was denied.

1pocket,
I will tell you that the majority of AZ contributors will be there either the first 3 days of the tournament), so the number of spectators will be higher on Thurs or Fri (sounds like Thursday would be best). When you know for sure, just pick an hour and we'll put it up on the board on Wednesday so everyone knows the time.

I'm TWICE AS IRISH AS OHB, AND I WANT A PIECE OF WILLIE (very small piece). Sounds like fun - all the Irish billiards freaks will be climbing over themselves to get to the table.

P.S. - somebody HAS to volunteer to clean the balls afterwards.

I learned that game a long time ago

As far as beating Willie, thats a bad bet. But I'd love to play some of that with anyone who wants to play,{very cheap}. It is an excellent game to help with a tremendous amount of strokes and caroms. I'm starting to get like my kids with Christmas, I can't wait for next month. Counting the days, Sam

I have no idea what Irish billiards are, but I am willing to learn. I do know, however, what you mean by being excited about next month. :D

We can get a private room with a 4½ X 9 in the main hall across from where they sell sticks 'n stuff. This would be a great place for AZers to meet & greet and relax while waiting to play Efren in the finals.
The cost for this room is $1,000 - SO
Anyone interested, Please respond to this post.
The cost will be devided between those who respond.
After the responses are in - we can tell you where to send the money. It will probably be either Williebetmore or Greg Diamond.

If not enough respond, we can share the room with OnePocket.org members as well.

Either way, I'm sure there will be many pros & celebs stopping by to say hello.

TY & GL

Count me in.

Maybe we could get ask people for their arrival date's and game of choice and set a "tentative" schedule for the mini's from them. and of course subject to change ,There will be conflicting schedules that we'll just have to live with for now . I would think the 1st tourneys would be by how many present "at that particular time " and their game of choice ??

If some ones DCC schedule conflicts with AZB's ,I would think there will be plenty of time to have another one to appease everyone or at least as many as possible .This first one may be a little hectic at times as the bugs are worked out and I think that everyone here is aware of that and will be ready
for whatever comes our way and be making a list for next year as to what works and what doesnt..........

I know I am a relative newbie as far as posting here but have been a long time lurker ...I have been posting on RSB or what's left of it ever since hurricane Fast Larry landed on our beaches and I decided to finally expand my horizons quit lurking and contribute my "vast" knowledge (lolololol)to the group ..J/K about the knowledge ....I am 48 years old ,been playing (off and on) since I was 7 and am still on my "Learners Permit" and will be til I die ........

Tom S. aka Ratchet

Ratchet,
The "mini-sets" I was referring to were NOT mini-tournaments (too difficult to accomplish on a single table). Rather I was referring to the format for using the table.

To keep players (selfish pool freaks like me) from monopolizing the table; we have instituted a modified "challenge" format. There will be a sign-up list at all times in the room; #1 plays #2, then #2 plays #3, then #3 plays #4, and so on. The player "at the table" decides on the game (choose from the "official list of games"), the players together decide on the wager. This is NOT, and I repeat NOT, a "winner stays at the table" kind of challenge table. This way no one stays at the table more than 2 mini-sets in a row; and many more people are exposed to new opponents, and the wonderful world of degenerate, small stakes pool gambling. You can always put your name right back on the list after you leave the table.

If the length of the mini-sets turns out to be bad - we may change it while the tournament is in progress; but for now, unless the room is empty, we MUST stick to the list; or we will never have appropriate access for the many people that wish to play.

games of choice

I for one would like to see us stick with the tournament theme. During the bank portion, we could concentrate on a bank tournament in our room. When DCC switches to one pocket, we should hold a one pocket tourney. Lastly, when nine ball is the game we should have a nine ball event. We could also have our own "Master Of The Table" for those who played in all three events. A separate fund could be created as added money option to be played at your choice. I will be there to play in the bank tournament and will leave on the 10th, missing the one pocket and nineball event. I prefer to play banks over other games if given the choice.

I will support any and all final decisions on game of choice but do wish to get my 2 cents in.

It is only 2 weeks away - SO.........

Maybe we all should see how things pan out and happen once we get there. It just seems to me like everytime we come up with new ideas, Williebetmore gets more work. Man - for the next two weeks, I'd hate to be one of his patients.
I'm just kidding and glad to see the excitment building. But lets remember there will be some other things to do besides the room - like the DCC.

OHB,
Truer words never spoken.

Here is my DCC schedule:

11 AM - 11 PM - watch the pro's
11PM - 5 or 6 AM - play in the AZB room or watch the action tables
6AM - 10AM - sleep
10AM - 11 AM - breakfast/lunch/dinner all in one, shower, shave, call the wife.

P.S. - My wife says this schedule sounds like a sentence, not a vacation.

P.P.S. - I am NOT at this point planning on organizing/running any tournaments or ring games in the room (though I think a ring game is a better idea than a tournament - which could take all week to complete); though if anyone has ideas and the initiative to set one up and run it, we are open to suggestions.

Remember there are at least 70 people that want to play in the room and have contributed - let's try to maximize the number of people that can play.
