Here is a preliminary run-down of finances so far. I think its fair to say we have enough cash - OHB, let Greg Sullivan know IT IS A GO.

Now everyone needs to send AT LEAST the amount they pledged. Send more if you like, we have a LOT of things we can do with the extra. Remember "no pay, no play." Others who want to contribute need to PM me immediately. We need to receive the funds BEFORE DCC starts.

Hey Larry, Chill out man - we would not bogart the table - and the proposal was half in jest anyway. Ghost

PS, I might even play you some banks ^_^

Sounds good to me! The idea of the one pocket players signing up in order and doing their tourny that way makes sense to me.

new guy post

I just got my account activated and I would sign up for the DCC room. Count me in for like $40. Im not saying playing me is a free win but I am very willing to learn. I play straight pool in my league and dabble in 9ball, 8ball. Would like to play other games like one pocket, but haven't encountered too many people for those games.

Cool, guess I better make some extra chili! I got a call from Greg Sullivan earlier. He's said he's going to get me a room at the West. When I made my reservations, I was told I was vanquished the east. Hope he's able to help!

See ya's there!

Laptop-Internet availability ???

Has anyone gotten a definitive answer on the Laptop-Internet access?
I need to know if there is Wi-Fi available throughout or at least in the rooms via hard wire.

Tom, Don't hold me to this, but when I made my reservations a couple of weeks ago, I was told it was available in the rooms now. This will be the first year for it so I'm not holding my breath!

I got a reprieve this AM, and found out that my request for a certain room would be honored. I've gotten the same suite every year of the tourney except one when it had been previously rented for the entire month. It has a special sentimental thing with us. I have a bunch of pictures and even more memories of the trips with my old road partner Gary Spaeth staying in that room. Long live the Derby City Classic, which in my opinion is the greatest pool extravaganza of all times, and it grows larger and better each year!

My hat's off to Greg Sullivan and all the fine folks at Diamond for making this what it is!

God Bless! See ya all in Louisville, ( at least the lucky ones!)

When I talked to the hotel they said, WI-FI in the Lobby and Sleeping Rooms only... and not anywhere else. I don't think they have anything hardwired.

If the AZB room is close enough to a hotspot, we might be in luck, but I'm not sure I would count on it.

Maybe 1pocket would know for sure since he had his HOF dinner in the same room last year.

Now I don't know what to think..........

I just got off the phone with reservations and she says - "No Internet access anywhere in the entire hotel" (Executive West). The Executive Inn across the driveway has a business center (in the lobby) that has Internet access.

So who knows - She didn't exactly sound like a fountain of knowledge.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I called to make reservations. The woman on the other end said they were all sold out. A couple days later I read that there were still rooms available. I called back and lo and behold, there were plenty. I guess, what I am saying is, try again, maybe ask for a manager. The one you talked to, may have thought you were asking, if computers were available.

I called the hotel directly (not reservations) and was told there was definitely WIFI access in the rooms. They didn't think there was access in the Shannon room unless you paid for it somehow. I'm not sure of the details of paying for the access though.

I sure hope so............

I can't imagine a recently renovated hotel without Internet access.
I have to use my laptop to stay on top of my business.
I communicate with my reps and run credit cards for them.
I would hate the thought of having to find a Kinko's or Starbuck's to use their Wi-Fi.

By the way, do we have the room for any amount of time on Sunday? My flight is in the middle of the afternoon on Sunday, so I'll still be around for a bit I suppose.

Does anything happen at the DCC after the final matches on Saturday? Do the pros hang around and match up much afterwards?

Sami-,
The room closes whenever semperfi says it closes. He will have the key from Saturday afternoon on (I believe he will be leaving Sunday morning, and he will close the room when he goes).

All guest rooms have Wi-Fi !!!

Got through to a manager and all guest rooms have Wi-Fi. If your laptop does not have an internal wireless - the hotel will provide one for your computer.

The IPT qualifier will start Sun. With the entry fee at $2000, I don't expect a huge turnout but I do expect more there just because it's following Derby, where all the players are anyway. My flight leaves at 3 on Sun and with the little bit of sleep that I'll be getting that week, I doubt I'll be up early enough to catch any of the qualifier.
