The BEST 4x8 case on the market for the money! $90

I recently bought two sterling cases through Rossaroni one is a 1x1 I got for my son with a brown alligator look to it ... The other one is a 3x6 with the hard tubes in it but felt lined ... Both cases are Sterlings ... Not sure if it is the same case but it looks identical the only difference is the hard instroke type tubes ... Both cases are very nice and do a great job ... Rossaroni was selling them for a pool hall that went out of business so now you will have to go through the site John recommends but if they are like the ones I have they are definalty worth every penny ..

I have bought one of each of their new cases, both in the 4x8 configuration: the black one John posted here for $90 and an upgraded version that is part of the "Wave" series. The wave has upgraded material w/a little extra styling; upgraded pockets; upgraded handle; and back pack like carry straps (two). It sells for $150. I believe both of these cases come in many different configuration 3x6; 2x4; whatever you need.

They are both great values. You get similar protection as you would get w/John's custom cases at a fraction of the cost. I love both of my cases and highly recommend them - I am using them for storage or if I am going to show some cues. But if you want fantanstic unique leather cases, John is your man for those too. I have one of his 2x5 configurations that I love. My wife wants a purse to match  .

Thank you John for the best upgrade to an inexpensive case in years. And thank Sterling for going with the flow and making it happen.

I ran by & picked one up today. Nice case for the money. John has some type of foam in the bottom so that when you open the lid all the shafts & butts pop up several inches. I like the zipper lid to...no latch to screw up.

Does this feature come with the smaller cases ex: 2x3?
might pick one up

What Other Sterling Cases Have That Interior?

All the STH tube models have it. However since we are transitioning to the new interior and phasing out the foam core interiors you need to specify that you want the NEW interior when you order. It will probably take about 3-5 months to have the inventory completely rotated into the new interiors.

All of the new STW Wave case models have the new interior. Actually this one has the Organic Rebound interior which is the padded interior with the added feature that the cavities are springy and will push the shafts and butts up for easier access to the parts. There are no springs or any other type of object inside the case though - it's magic :-)

Please make sure you ask for the NEW interior when you order.

Yes it does. http://www.cuesight.com/sth5bk.html

Ask for the NEW interior.

This is what it looks like;

I'd be interested in a 2x5, can you ship to Canada without any extra BS? USPS Ground is always good...

We ship to Canada all the time. You need to contact either www.CueSight.com OR send an email to sales at sterling-gaming dot com www.sterling-gaming.com and ask them who their Canadian dealers are and buy from that person. Be sure to ask for the NEW interior.

The 2x5 is only available in the Wave series. http://www.cuesight.com/pool-cue-cases-wave-cases.html

I thought the "pop-up" foam at the bottom was in the wave case, but not in these. JB, could you clarify?

Thanks.

I think we made a few with the pop-up system (not foam) in the STH models. It's not standard on that model so I would say that if someone gets one with that interior then they got lucky (if they want it).

At some point I had decreed that all of the new cases would have the Organic Rebound interior and then I was presented with the bill. Making the Oganic Rebound interior is complicated and expensive compared to just a straight sleeved compartment.

And I had orders that the price was not to increase on this model. The other improvements I had already done made it more expensive to make already so I had to compromise on the interior. But I think that at least a couple got mixed in with the production cases with the Organic Rebound interior.

The first samples I made for the BCA show all had the O.R. interior so it's possible that Kevin got one of those.

These do have EVA high density foam at the bottom which is springy as well.

I just ordered one (4x8)
I will give my best review when I'll get it

The case is here... that was fast (and expansive thanks to FedEX... )
I will not post pictures as John posted nice pictures of the case but as promised, here is my review:

Exterior:
The Vinyl quality is nice, not as nice as the Instroke Premier but for the price ($90 for a 4x8 not including shipment and taxes) it is very nice.
The long pouch does not have a side compartment for a jump cue handle which is a shame because I doubt if having it would have made this case more then $2 more expansive to build.
If you must carry a jump cue then it'll fit nicely inside the long pouch, even with a joint protector, so you can roll it a hand towel to protect it and you're good to go.
Both pouches are high enough to accommodate a pool ball with no problems.

All zippers are running smoothly and since they are made of some kind of soft plastic, it will probably not hurt the cues.

The strap and handle are the same cheap ones that we've seen on Sterling and other cheap cases in the past, but really for $90 you can't ask for more. For me, it's not a big deal as this case will not leave the house and will be used for storage only.

Interior:
As you can see from John's photos, the dividers look thick and cushy... something that I haven't seen on any other 4x8 tubeless cases before. This spec is what made me want this case. Well the sad news is that the dividers are only that thick for about 2 inches.... after that it is a thin divider (still protective but thin)... I guess there is no way 4 butts and 8 shafts would have fitted in there if the dividers would have been thick all the way down.
My case comes with that "Organic Rebound interior" which I believe (correct me if I'm wrong here John) is simply due the the fact that the compartments that hold the cue parts is a shorter elastic "sock" so it is stretched when a butt or shaft is inserted but jumps right back up. I guess if the dividers were thick all the way down you could not create that "pop up" effect.

4 butts and 8 shafts do fit in it BUT its very crowded, too crowded if you ask me, the fit is very tight and I doubt if I'll hold 4 butts and 8 shafts in it on a constant base, I'll probably hold in it 2 to 3 butts and about 6 shaft. (Unless I'll win more raffles and won't have any more "cue space" )

The Bottom line:
For $90 (even for $150) it is the best 4x8 case that you can get.
I would rather have it a bit bigger so cues will be more "relaxed" and have the thick dividers go all the way down.
I would also prefer not to have that "pop up" feature, so the cue parts won't stick out for about an inch into the open space of the lid.
But for my current needs as a storage case and mostly for shafts then it fits me just right!!!

BUMP for a nice case.

Just received mine in the mail today. I got the 3x6. I say this to anyone who is thinking about buying this case. There is no need to think, just click add to cart and pull out the credit card.

For the price, I say this IS the best case on the market in that price range. Like the above response, thick and soft dividers to keep your precious cues protected. (I have one with the organic rebound material and it is a great option, because it keeps the cues in the case tight and won't knock around). Over all, I like a case that are a bit on the tighter side, because that way the cues doesn't have the extra room to shake around in the case.

Nice durable zipper, very good size pouche that can fit quite a bit in. I have a fullsize microfiber towl, a cue ball, 3 pieces of chalk, and a q-wiz in the top pouch and I still have room in there for more. As John said, the case can fit up to 32 inches, so it is a great option if you like Joint protectors. Another thing is, it is not very bulky.

$90 for the 4x8
$72 for the 3x6

You will like this case, it is really nice.

Happy shooting! :)

I just got a 3X6 also and it is a great case for the money but I do have one complaint. The zipper on the lid is a paid to close, it always gets caught up right at about the last 1/3 of the way. The top zipper gets trapped under the lid. You have to have the lid close perfectly to get it to close and that is with a couple tries. Otherwise the case is great. Easily fits 3 Butts and 6 Shafts.

I will loosen it up a little on the next batch.
