ODEGA jump/break tip. The best ever!!!!!
I got 2 shafts with my new custom jump/break cue.
Sent them both out for tips installed.
Shaft 1 - 1 piece G10 tip ferrule installed...for jumping
Shaft 2 - ODEGA break tip...LEATHER ...his shaft for breaking.

I just tested both, and this leather tip from ODEGA, is hard as a fricken rock!
Jumps ALMOST AS WELL AS THE G10!!!!!!
Hits like a phenolic on the break, but digs into the cueball avoiding miscue.
It will do jump/masse, goes "clink" when it contacts cueball,
And then I wondered, how does it play???
So I started playing with it,...this tip pulls BIG backdraw, and does not miscue like it should considering its hardness...it plays ridiculous!!!
If you have a jump break cue, have his tip put on, and you can literally walk into a pool hall with ONLY that cue, and jump, break,...and play...RIDICULOUS!!!
The G10 jumps a LITTLE BETTER, but not even enough difference to warrant bringing 2 shafts with me, and bothering to unscrew the cue and screw it back together. That's how we'll this tip jumps.

I'll also give my 2.5 cents. Love the Odega tip as well. Naturally I am hoping he will come out with a playing tip,, hint!:wink:
 
8onthebreak...I don't want to burst your bubble, but the tip has NOTHING to do with whether or not you can draw the ball. It's all about a good stroke. Glad you're enjoying your new stuff, but technique is what matters, whether jumping, drawing, applying sidespin...or anything else.

Scott you are kidding, right? That is like different types of wood, say balsa and pine work the same for building a house? People will search just to find one good tip in a box of lepros. The stroke is huge but do not discredit, the tip.

A lot of this stuff is in people's heads. From Dr. Dave's page: "Tip hardness should not have a significant or direct effect on the amount of English that can be applied."

If you drew the ball further with another tip, you usually either hit lower or harder on that shot. It really is that simple.

Sometimes people want to believe the new equipment is better and it makes us mentally play a little better... you hit the ball a little more carefully, spend more time positioning the tip, follow through a little further, etc. All of these things might cause you to draw better with a new cue vs. the old. But at the end of the day you just hit the ball more correctly, the shaft, tip, chalk, or buttcap didn't do it.

Saying that equipment has nothing or even little to do with the game. Yes, skill is the most important thing. Without skill equipment doesn't matter...
But how the H@!! Is an indian supposed to kill anything WITHOUT AN ARROW???

Comparing a butt-cap to a tip??? REALLY???
So why do we put tips on our cues in the first place if they are no more important than a buttcap?

This was a ridiculous reply. Sorry. Just saying.

so you could get the same kind of spin with a phenolic tip?
 
The tips are great. Not sure I'd use it on a monster draw shot though...it might work perfectly well but I'd be afraid of smashing the table lights.

All this talk of tips, and equipment not making a difference...WTF! No doubt they play with expensive cues...save some cash and play with a broom handle.

Lol, my point exactly...and surprised when I could dig into it with monster draw...I wouldn't stand in front of the shot :grin:
