I hear talk about one pocket movers vs. one pocket shooters, i have video of frost, reyes, hall, marquez and pagulayan, they are all amazing players but in the videos i have they all run out so frequently i feel like i'm missing out on some of the moves. who are the great movers of the game? are there any great matches of these movers i should get? thanx
 
It's not a match video but you might track down a copy of Grady Mathews "End Game". It's got some great moves and stategies.
 
Seems like even as aggressive as he was, Ronnie Allen is also known for controlling multiple balls at a time -- even (esp.) when kicking.

If we're talking about cue control, I really like watching Buddy Hall playing one-pocket. His speed and shape are so precise.

Steve Cook moved real well. Cooney also, but I believe there is only one video of him- vs. Cliff. Oh, Hopkins too.
 
One of the great, great movers I've seen: Johnny Ervolino. there's a match of him beating Mike Sigel hill-hill from 1991.

While I personally thought that I could out move a Gypsy, in truth, I could never out move Artie Bodendorfer, who could out move the Devil himself. Anybody alive thinks they can out move him can win big money, he has a standing 30k offer to anyone willing to go before a independent pro panel to decide who can out move who. But to quote Buddy Hall on Vernon Eliot, "Yeah, I think the shot's impossible, but if you bet him you'll lose."

I truly regret not seeing him play while in his prime. I remember seeing him in the poolroom in Chicago a couple of times, and people would say that's Artie. But he was just standing there sweating a match. He sat right there while I played Tom Spencer once and never said boo. I think he was just checking my speed.

I didn't see him actually play until the later years in the 90's in Vegas when he was way down from his top speed. He is probably the only top player of the last 40 years I didn't see in action somewhere.

Freddie,
I thought I had heard several years ago that Artie was dead. Guess I heard wrong??
 
Thats a tough one to answere, Ed Kelly, Efren, Johnnie E., Rex Cannon(I knew him towards the end of his life and he lost alot of his playing ability but I listened to him explain the reasons for his shot selection so I put him on the list.)

i dont think there really is an answer.
