I dont think no brothers have ever won over 20 state championships between them other then Bob and Tom Vanover!

Evgeny and Maxim Stalev

Probably not "of all time," but one brother pair that play pretty stoutly are the Stalev brothers, Evgeny and Maxim.

We at AZB, of course, are familiar with Evgeny Stalev. But his older brother, Maxim, is also a championship-caliber player, well known in Russian Pyramid, but has played here in the U.S.

They have an interesting biography on this page, if you do a Google translate on it (and FYI, be tolerant of the grammatical incorrectness of the translation -- it's not perfect):

Yes, the Behnke brothers play very well. Not sure how many state/national championships, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was more than a dozen not counting Junior championships. Adam is the oldest at around 25 years and may have 10 state titles by himself.

If a thread starts for Sisters winning, I would bet a dollar SVB's mom and Aunt have won more than 20 state/national titles between them.

Thanks for your great commentary at the Derby Fred!

Best Pool Playing Brothers Of All Time

The Dion brothers Joseph and Cyrille both won championships in the 1800s
There was a third, less well known brother, I can't remember his name right now but I am pretty sure he was playing for a championship when he claimed that someone had mickeyed him and he lost.

The Bear brothers from Canada
John and Jimmy Bear
Jimmy Bear won the Canadian snooker championship in the 80's and
narrowly lost the World amateur championship...he had a big lead in the
finals and was asked to slow down by his friends so they could get more
action...and he got nipped at the wire.

John Bear was the better alround player...he had a 9-ball break almost as
good as Billy Johnson's and a smooth stroke like Steve Mizerak's....and he
made it through the World Championship qualifying to play at the famed
Crucible in Sheffield (lost first round)

John left us too early but Jimmy could still knock in a 147 in his late 60's.

Some people thought Jimmy was a little slow but he actually had a hearing
problem which he tried to hide...I would say "If you think he's slow, try
playing him a game of chess and see how you like it."

In England, some of the pros were discussing which player was the most
intimidating....Jimmy was passing by and partially overheard the conversation....
He said "Yeah, well when I get in dead stroke, I'll IMITATE them ALL."

Pool Playing Brothers!

Yeah, forgot about that.
Catpool and bro would be hard to get past.

Thanks PT.......I never won a state title but have beaten many title holders!..hehe

Calvin and I always had a standing offer to play any natural born brother's, but the Vanover's were a generation ahead of us.

Scotty Townsend has a cousin in Monroe, LA. that would make a great partner, he has won many good tournaments.

The "Weeks" brother's from Lufkin, Texas play as good as they get also.
