For some reason I love sneakys and feel it would be a nice collection. Just wanted everyones opinion on who they think makes the best S/P's. I have a few in mind but want to see what everyone else likes. Thanks for any input, its greatly appreciated.
ballmover said:mark bear start at 250 for a piloted joint hmmn. diveney cheap shaft wood, ive had 2 of them. 2 each there own but i think diveney is overrated with his little butterfly thing. i play with a scruggs with no finish no fancy nothin and thats the way i like it. i just found that diveney was a corner cutter.....pun intended. i will be posting pics of my new jonathan spitz glorified sp soon, its done i just have to pic it up. this guy make 1 cue at a time. aaa shaft wood. im all about the little guy/ up&comers
the only way i got the spitz was thru a trade, but it will be pretty. the diveney's hit pretty good i just think theres better for the money. bear is a great option, anybody that cuts like hercek for that price..... a buddy of mine has one on the way, cant wait to check it out. i always hope that people will due there research like the op before buying the first thing that comes along.hondo said:Well, I see what you're saying. However, speaking strictly about the
hit , I like the hit of my Diviney better than the hit of my Scruggs SP.
Just my own subjective opinion.
Mark Bear sounds reasonable. I'd like to try one but the little lady
says no more cues.

The sneaky i acquired is an original 15 year old Richard Harris Bluegrass SP that one of the top players in the country pawned to me at an incredible price (he needed the cash). It has an amazing hit and, believe it or not, breaks better than any other cue that i have ever owned.

Jigger said:Beav, Good luck w/the collection, sounds like fun. When you say sneaky pete are you talking about the plain jane, stripped down versions? Would you include the "fancy SP's" with joint collar, butt capp, rings etc?
Have bot and sold a lot of cues but mostly regret selling an ebony Josey fancy SP which was a bit heavy for my tastes. It sure hit strong and sweet IMO.
ridewiththewind said:Yep, mine is like that....I could not believe a shaft this nice on an s/p cue!! Complete shock! Having owned some more expensive customs, this shaft, in quality alone, beat their shafts, hands down!! And not one lick of roll on this baby...straight as straight can be. I do not know where Keith gets his shaftwood, but I bet he's guarding it closely! I know that I would...lol.
I'm not sure what wood your friend's Josey is constructed of, but I think part of the reason my Josey feels so stiff is because of the density of the ebony...but then again, I may not have a clue as to what I am talkin' about.![]()

The one I can't put down is my older Schon Black Widow. Evan Clarke has to be included as one of the top cuemakers, especially for playabilitybeav99_4life said:Well, after recently acquiring a custom sneaky from one of the top cue makers in the country, i have decided to do a collection of S/P's from all of the best cue makers.
