Yes Louie Robert’s too. I only saw him play a few times.
Kim was so solid and had the complete package.
Johnny of course had a amazing stroke but his wrist was twisted in a little, like Earl. They both make it work and arguably play better than Kim ever did.
CJ looked amazing too. Thinking more about it.
But from a “looking good” perspective Kim was something else. Wow.
Busty-what to say? He makes it work, it’s not pretty but it’s not ugly. It’s cool looking.
Fat boy, what do you think of busty stroke now? Compared to his heyday in the late 90s though to mid 2000s?
He definitely changed something, looks like a really big pause now, before he shoots
I remember back in 99 when I first saw him. The Most creative player.

He cranks up the cue goes so far back it looks like it’s going to fall off the table. And that pause then perfection when he strikes the cue ball.

Absolutely on-target. Kim was devoid of any shortcomings in setup, stance and stroke mechanics. An ideal model for emerging players or any of us with seemingly irremediable flaws we'd like to work on.
Coming up, Kim was a devoted student of Hal Mix who coached and "de-bugged" many notable pros of the period. Hal tuned-up Kim periodically to a point where Hal eventually said: "His fundamentals are living perfection to see at the table now."
Watch as much of the below marvel of courage ("Best comeback ever televised") as you have time for, and you'll see what Hal and Eric (Fatboy) meant about Kim's perfection (and you'll witness his unbelievable never-give-up heart):

I was lucky enough to have met Kim in 85 and watched him for 6 years before I moved to Vegas full time. I seen him in $5 tourneys, action(big and small) Reno many many times. I watched him improve from 85 as he just got stronger and stronger. His Szam is in the vault up stairs. Great memories for me.

Also even if I didn’t know him I’d still have the same opinion of him. It’s just a coincidence. Sigel has a great set up as well and plays a hair stronger I’d say. But I like Kim’s “look” more. Which is what this thread is about. And as Jay correctly mentioned Louie Robert’s as well.
As I noted earlier I look better than I play-horrible problem lol I copied Kim best I could.

Fwiw, Efren said Rafael Martinez and Antonio Lining had the most powerful strokes he's seen.

That was nice. It's amazing that out of all the matches available on YouTube, you can rarely see the full stroke. Usually their right arm is offscreen or you get a head on view that is much less informative.
For my money, Steve Mizerak and Rafael Martinez have strokes that look smoother and straighter than most anybody else.

Earl is superhuman. Efren is supernatural. But Sigel seems to do things that a human can do. He has just refined his execution to perfection.

Kim's the only pool player I can think of that looks like an athlete. He looks like he should be throwing a football.
Rafael has the balls of a burglar too. He'll shoot any shot at any time. Fearless shooter.

Maybe if he thought discretion can be the better part of valor he's be a world champion. I love watching him play and shoot and make shots everyone else would duck. There's nobody better with a cue. Sometimes I think the safety is the higher percentage play, though.

Basavich was a great player. Kid Delicious, maybe the best nickname ever. I read he was playing a guy called "Kid Vicious" and was winning and a guy in the crowd shouted "Kid Vicious is getting whipped by Kid Delicious!" That's your nickname for life after that. His parents changed their names to Mom and Dad Delicious.
He’s a golfer. Was pretty solid actually.
For instructional reasons, about 10 years ago I posted the below photo of Mike Sigel's stance and setup to a Facebook pool playing discussion about those elements as exemplified by various top players. I included a flipped version of the left-hander source photo so that right-handed shooters could better resonate with it and hope to introduce much of what Sigel displays into their own approach to the game.

other than my earlier post about allison, the best players stroke I have ever seen was a man named Pat Wren, who is/was one of the best players in the daytona beach/ormond beach area. His stroke was beautiful to watch. That guy could make the cueball dance. Anybody know him?
