The Cold Case of Biloxi Mike Surber's Murder

DAMN spliced........

If that isn't him it's a spitting image.....and that NOSE...
Man that looks exactly like the pics I've seen of the guy that killed Mike.
Surely someone will forward this to whatever authorities are involved in
the case. Is Gulfport Doc still around? Didn't he actually SEE the guy?

The photo itself is EXTREMELY large, much too large for a forum software. It is hard to see. I have a 27-inch monitor, and I can't see it well.

Iwiill make it smaller and share it over at Onepocket-dot-org. I think Doc hangs out there.

Interestingly, the suspect in the Mike Surber called called himself "Jeremiah Cooper."

To me this guy is the closest looking to the suspect that I've seen and yes the nose looks like the same shape so with the Striking similarities definitely worth pursuing however there's two things that don't fit well Imo

This guy looks to be more bald than the suspect picture and also next to his nose the new guy has what looks to be a pronounced permanent bump that the original suspect pictures didn't have

Have to agree with Jam though that it's hard to ignore the J Cooper connection between these guys who look so similar and are both wanted for such serious crimes

As cardigan kid said DNA can hopefully sort this out once they get this guy

Still hoping for justice for Mike

best,

brian kc

If i saw that growth/lump thing on/near his right nostril in the original I'd be fairly certain we had him-Without it, I say less than a 50% chance.

Wait- If Jeff Cooper which they just kinda hang out there is an Alias of this guy-then move those odds to 90%

Remember that the original pictures were taken from a security camera 9 years ago. People change like getting balder and growing moles and cysts.

Good work JAM

No doubt but the mole would have been a clincher so now we are only guessing and hoping but again if 'Jeff Cooper' was one of the current guy's aliases-Odds are VERY high it is him imo.

A few photos from FB of this person, who may just look like the alleged suspect, but maybe it will help Gulfport Doc say yea or nay.

Notice the tattos on his lower arm by his wrist. In the photo of the suspect, he has long sleeves covering up the arms.

These photos are public for anybody to see on his FB page. It may not be him, but I hope Gulfport Doc weighs in here quickly, so we can move on.

Surber was murdered in 2009. This is a photo of the guy taken in 2012.

I don't know now. Does not look similar anymore to me. My posts in this thread may self-destruct after Gulfport Doc weighs in.

The picture by the water looks like N Fla or Georgia. I remember he was supposed to be associated w Georgia
and the picture from 2012 sure looks like the hairline could have been right on target 3 years earlier.
PS-This guy is like Ted Bundy-Looks different in every picture.

That's a pretty heavy resemblance from the wanted poster just a few posts above on this page.
If the authorities ever collected any suspect DNA from the murder scene...maybe a cigarette butt, then they should be able to do a cross check when they catch this miscreant.

Very good diligence to whoever is still watching out for Mike's justice.[/QUOTE

They do have DNA in this case and like you I'd like to see this guy's DNA compared to it. He may well be Mike's killer. To me that very well could be the guy a few years later. His hairline has receded a little more but he still prefers the pony tale look and has a similar facial structure. I damn sure hope they catch him and his DNA matches up. VERY important the detective working Mike's case sees these pics!

I just e-mailed Doc. Hopefully, he will get it soon and look at this thread and the one over at OnePocket.org.

Perhaps the killer is already in prison, doing time for something else?
I know nothing about prison procedures, but it looks like taking DNA samples from anyone, anywhere, who is sentenced to the joint would contribute to a huge computer database. (like fingerprints).
Then comparisons could be made.
I guess that's how all that stuff works...I really don't know.
I'm also sure if some nondescript citizen like myself has thought of that, the LEO people have done likewise.

Very nice work by Spliced, JAM, and others here on AZ! There are some similarities, but my honest feeling is that this is not Mike's murderer.

For one thing, the guy is too young. JAM posted a pic on AZ of the current pictured guy, which was take 3 years after the murder, and he's obviously too young. Our perp was at least in his late 40s, maybe older, in 2009. So now he would be at least late 50s.

I don't recall a mole on the guy's face, although I may not have noticed it at the time. Jeremiah Cooper was the name the perp used because he'd stolen Cooper's credit card in Atlanta. If this were our perp, he'd be crazy to use an alias anything like "Cooper". I don't know what crime the current guy did to be labeled a kidnapper. But the original guy was a murderer and thief, so I'm not sure how that jibes.

It would be a big help if we knew the pictured guy's height. The murderer was 5'6"-5'8". And yes, they do have DNA on the guy, plus whatever new info they were able to recently get at Quantico.

Still, this is certainly enough to forward on to the local FBI, who have taken over the case. I'll phone the agent to let him know.

Thanks very much, y'all !!

The Mike Surber family and all of his friends have been waiting too long for the suspect to answer for his bad deeds.

Maybe it's getting close to time for Mike to get his justice.

best,

Bottom line is we ALL have to stay active in doing whatever we can to help the police find Mike's killer! The billiard community is a very large network and we should use all our resources to bring Mike some justice! I know I would sleep better at night if Mike's killer got caught and convicted.

Any of you who didn't know Mike, I just want you to know what a great guy he was! One of the nicest and most generous people you would ever meet anywhere and he loved the game of Pool. He was a damn good player but was very modest about his talents and always willing to share his knowledge of the game with a beginner or intermediate level player. Mike was just an all around damn good guy!

I still think about the last time I saw him alive at DCC many years ago. We practiced some One Pocket and had a few laughs. Mike had just finished third in the One Pocket the previous year I believe.

I dont know how much investigation there was into that 2012 date. People on FB post pictures of their younger selves all the time. The difference between the current one posted by him-presumably 2018, and the one from "2012" looks like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than a 6 year difference to me. So like i said.........

I am not sure what you said. Reading the last few pages, seems like you were operating 0-100% margin of error:eek:

Wed all love to see this crime solved, but we shouldnt permit a desire to cause a get-him mentality rooted in hope.
