The FATBOY CHALLENGE TEN BALL

Busti is steam rolling. He was getting rolls and playing great last night. Nothing Hennesee could do. I like that morra kid too. I watched the first round last night and then had to come home. Is Fatboy there watching?

Kudos to Jay. Had to keep an eye on players scoring. Some of the players were a little confused by the score-keeping system.
 
I must admit, young Morra impresses me more and more as I watch him. For someone so young, he is calm and composed againt Corteza and could careless about score or anything. He is so focussed right now, only if you could see him. He doesn't even look nervous! Wow, he just ran 2 racks and breaking. 12-11 Corteza. 10-8 souquet.
 
It is 10-9 on Souquet and Efren. It has been a nail bitter the whole time. Both players are playing e tremely causious and not making any mistakes. 13-11 Corteza.

Efren hung up the 6. Yes, everyone gasped. 11-9 Souquet. 14-12 Corteza. Mores gave a valliant effort of force the 6 ball into the pocket which was frozen to the 10 ball and missed it.
 
Morra over shoots for shape on 3. Comes up with a good kick but looses the contol of table. Corteza carroms 5-10 for the match.
 
12-9 Souquet, the roomis packed watching these two players and I see at least two people with video cams recording it. I'm sure it will pop up in u tube eventually. It is most intense pool I've witnessed. 13-9 Souquet.
 
Souquet drops 4 balls on the final break including the 10 ball, per rule 10spots back up and he runs our effortlessly. Final 4 tomorrow are Mika, Corteza, Busty and Souquet. Good nite everyone. My phone is out of juice:)

Semifinal matchups will be Immonen vs Van Corteza and Bustamante vs Souquet.

I just got back to my room after watching the end of Souquet's win over Reyes. Here's a shot by Souquet that I found particularly impressive. It occurred while Souquet trailed early in the match and needed to make something happen. To clarify, the cut on the one was so thin that the scratch back across the table was an issue. Souquet cut it thin and played remakable three rail shape with inside english into a small position zone to get to the two, setting up a critical runout. I'm guessing at where most of the balls were, but the ones that mattered in this position were the one, the two and the three obstructing balls that made the position path so difficult to accomplish. Three different scratches had to be avoided on this shot, and if Souquet missed his position line long, he would have probably hooked himself.

By the way, the shot got me so excited that I walked over to JoeyA (who was focusing on Van Corteza's match at the time) and diagrammed the shot for him on a napkin, as I'm known to do.
