The great one

Legendary NYC restaurateur, Toots Shor, introduced Gleason and Mosconi.

Gleason considered himself something of a hustler and liked to play guys for $20/$30 a game. They met one night at Shors restaurant and Toots introduces Mosconi as a rich dress maker from Philly.

They went over to a nearby pool room and played 100 points of 14.1 for $100, Mosconi playing just well enough to win, 100-70. Gleason said to Toots, "Where did you find this guy? He must have been born with a horseshoe in his mouth."

They played one more.

Gleason broke, and Willie ran 70 right handed. Then, in a memorable coupe-de-grace, ran the last 30 left handed and all Gleason could say was his famous Honeymooners, "Homminuh, homminuh, humminuh."

They became close friends.

@Ched,
Thank you. I looked up this chart by Dr. Dave and straight pool run of 40-50 is conservatively a B and into A territory.

Great 60 minutes clip! I went to the link above eagerly to see where the experts say 50 balls ranks you and the first expert I read was me. lol. I agree with what I wrote but it would be nice to see feedback from instructors with extensive straight pool knowledge.
