The Hustlers need your help!!!!!!!!!!

Remove the bogus/ scripted crap in one sentence, then reenact history , your advice, in a single paragrsph?

Yeah, you should be the brains of this venture.
Remove the bogus scripted crap and make an actual reality show: hidden cameras, real bars and some $5 8-ball and 9-ball with a group of smart ass hustlers. Edgy and dangerous. My pals and I have been doing this for 35 years. That's how you get REAL funny and crazy stories! Hell....just reenacting those kinds of stories would be fun to see.

While I love this site and have for many years...I think people think AZBILLIARDS has more sway than it really does. I'm directing this more at the negative posters. Just because the show wasn't representative of what hard core pool fanatics want makes no difference to the network. In fact hardcore players make up a small percentage of viewing audience they are trying to hook. I'm happy the show aired at all. Nice to have pool on tv again

The Hustlers was a attempt that didn't quite cut it.........the pool players....characters...were not interesting and after 2 shows.....everything was predictable and the pool was hardly impressive.......other than when MD or JB ran a few racks.........the camera coverage of the pool table time was poorly shot and pretty inadequate.........it was a noble attempt that failed but for understandable reasons........"Funnegan" is facade and bullshit too....he would get his head split open talking to people as he did in the show. And Gary......he's hysterical.........they'd take his ass outside and kick the living shit out of that Irishman........all bellow and bluff but no balls to really throw a punch....you don't get toe to toe with someone shouting at each other and then walk away.......you finish the discussion outside.....If you weren't from NYC, or some other mega-metropolis, you might even believe this shit was real........Not! I'd much rather just watch some good pool matches on ESPN that sit through more episodes of the Hustler.

I don't know. It's better than nothing. I personally looked forward to watching each episode but then again there is nothing I really watch on TV. Don't hold your breath waiting for any pool on ESPN either. I really enjoyed the last episode with "Atlantic City Guys," none of which are from Jersey by the way. They play out of rooms and tournaments near me so I enjoyed that episode. I always enjoy watching Emily play or just simply watching Emily. What it does show is that they are all different personalities. Think about the people in your home poolrooms. They're all originals. I hope we get a second season.

I could handle the ridiculous dialogue and the less than professional

looking pool play and still enjoy the show if only the game was edited differently. A close up shot of each ball falling or rattling in the pocket is not necessary. I tried to watch an episode yesterday, but could not stand seeing a full game in 30 seconds with about 30 edited clips of the full game. Speeding up the game is fine if done well.

Well then....the most successful producer's batting average just took a dip
because this time he sure struck out on 3 straight pitches too with his show.

He never even got his bat on the ball......just big swishes.....and how come
no one working for him had the balls or savvy to tell him the show sucked?

The idea has merit....but this was so contrived that the original idea got lost
and took on the aspects and performance of a daytime soap opera.....really,
the road trip to NJ was the best attempt to salvage an otherwise sinking ship.

I betcha you could splice together tapes of shit that goes on at some of the
of tournaments after hours that would prove more interesting and even do
some candid on camera shots and scenes which would promote and improve
the visibility of the players and probably catch some great pool play.

That's been my experience when I have attended tournaments with a 3 figure
buy-in (>$99.00) entry fee......I always enjoyed the after hours action as much
as the tournament itself......in any event, pool on TV surely is needed and so
maybe even a bad reality show about pool is better than no shows about pool.

Wake up people

It doesn't matter if you feel the shows needs real actors, it doesn't matter if the story line sucks, it doesn't matter if the shot editing sucks..

What matters is you support the game, and we hope that the sport grows!

What better way to grow a sport nationally....reality TV show???

Look at what reality TV has done for individuals, can you say KARDASHIAN??

GOOD, or BAD.. It's all about EXPOSURE..

I can't resist! You said Kardashian!!!

I got a great idea! Get a video of Mike and Jennifer having sex! Have Jennifer wear a cowboy hat and a strap on with Mike bent over wearing micky mouse ears on a pool table!

Make the video go viral and baaaaaam!

You said Kardashian;) not me

This show needs Earl. I mean it. You need to have Earl and fly over a couple of Mosconi cup British fans. Some hidden cameras. Maybe a strap a go pro to Earl's head, like a helmet cam.

Didn't the producers consider Earl six months ago when they started the show and before it got cancelled?

Here is an interview by Finnegan. The producers approached Earl, and they were not able to reach an agreement. Later, Earl tweeted news of his own show in development with Dennis Hatch.

Thanks for the link, I had not seen that posted any where. It didn't mention any thing about Earl, unless I missed something? It was all about Finnegan and nothing about the producers decisions. I do remember vaguely some rhetoricabout Earl's "new show". Any news on that? It's a shame that the producers and Earl couldn't come to an agreement. Maybe they could now for a second seasaon?

Did you watch the videos that accompanied the article?
