The Hustlers new Clip

I do not understand how anyone that likes pool would not want this show to succeed. The numbers of places closing versus opening is pretty disheartening. The days of the smoke filled seedy gambling pool halls has gone perhaps this show can attract a new group of players. I hope this show makes it for the pool community, the players in it and for the backers that are making the effort to put it into production.

It's all about return on the money ,, pool had a spike when the economy was booming in the early 80s it was the perfect storm for success .
The pool leagues where where growing like wild fire and transitioning from bars to the new upscale bar and grill pool halls it brought hundreds of thousands of new players in ,the majority younger players
However pool has not been on the decline because of what you call a smoky seedy presception it's failing because to have those nice places requires a substantial investment , and the ROI on a nice place is minimal if any
So many had to close , the ones that survived did so because they inherited the players from the other places that closed .
10 shows like this one won't change things much in the current economy ,, pool is not a hidden treasure that no one knows about kids know about pool it just isn't that appealing enough for them to drop the phone or the controler
And no kid with any reasonable athletic ability inspires to be a pool player until there done playing real sports
It is what it is

I know I'm not supposed to criticize, but gawd I hate it when they show pool on TV and they show the person stroking, then a camera cut, and then a different camera showing the ball falling in.

Agreed, they need to be a little better in filming... I've done some audio and video editing... They almost had me thinking this was all done in one afternoon but then there are things that let me know this was not all in one film shot and not shot in a one day session as they want you the think...

You see his shirt patch go from one side to the other of shirt from one shot to another....they dogged it...

I don't mean the pool looks staged, just the pregame woofing - but that could make viewers wonder about the pool.

Oh the pregame stuff wasn't scripted either but yeah before the matches they definitely would put the cameras on. Keep in mind that what they show in 1 minute might have happened over the course of an hour in real life. I know what you mean though, there was one part I was watching especially where I was like wow they shrunk 3 hours into 45 seconds and it's action packed when in reality it was nowhere near that entertaining or interesting. Let's say encouraged though over scripted...that's a little more accurate.

Mike, if you're really part of the action and the match ups, it'll be good, for sure.

For those that don't know it, Mike helped turn around the Des Moines pool gambling scene when it was on life support. imho.

Good luck with the show.

Thanks Jeff and DSM will always have a big spot in my heart and with Pat opening a new room pool couldn't be better there. Can't wait to come back through.

I'm the caveman. Mikey Frosty is scared of me :D
Stop it man....just stop it! We both know better than that. Everytime you see me I'm collecting money, even from you. I do have to give you the nuts though cause that's the only way you're getting up. You're still a Tinder legend though. Don't "choke" though haha

Good catch but I don't think you are correct in this instance. I like the conclusion though....fire the director haha!!!

In the clips what pool hall were they using for the on stool interviews with Finegan and Emily D? I'm talking about the place with the red tables and nice decor.

That's not a pool hall at all. It's a very nice space they designed for the interview room.

Good little setup for us all....I still encourage ppl to check it out with an open mind.

It's not just your phone. It happened on my pc too, and I've got 4G wifi.

I'm having a hard time watching this clip on my phone for some reason. It stops and buffers every few seconds even though I have a strong 4G signal. Regardless I watched enough of it to know it looks pretty slick, and nothing like that has been done involving pool in a long time. I'll definitely be watching.
