The long-standing Figueroa/Spiderweb/Champ/Patrick aiming feud has got to stop!!!

Maybe some of these posters have driven others away with their strident inflammatory comments. If it gets too hot in the kitchen then leave, and some of us have or have substantially reduced the comments we make. But then perhaps that is a good thing!

Hijacked threads and personal arguments are, simply put, boring.

I used to get green repped and pm'ed thanking me and asking for help in those threads all the time.

There is no point in my eyes to shrugging off "blame" or assigning it to others.

Simply move forward.

If you think you're obviously not who he's talking about..and you end up on vacation because you didn't heed...this is on you guys.

If you believe you're not guilty of any provocation or etc...Party on dude.

last thing i will say on this and i will continue to be me and if that means i will get banned then so be it. There is so much provocation on this site in so many different ways that you can add a lot of the regulars to this list here.

What I see on a continual basis is that many of you guys cannot have a normal conversation.

Regardless of the side of the argument, people are like religeous zealots on the topic. You can't just let the other guy have an opinion without making sure he knows that your opinion is the only right one.

Honestly, I really think I have fewer complaints about the political fighting in NPR.

Are you all so stuborn that you can't simply agree to disagree...and not fight about it?

That's a rhetorical question BTW.

Ooooooh rhetorical

I think that some people you mentioned have a "God complex". Funny thing is we have the same thing in our pool hall.

The feud should be settled with a race to 20 at a neutral pool hall halfway between them and streamed live on the site. The loser pays for the transportation costs of both of them...
Aiming systems are exactly like religions it seems.

Wilson did a pretty good job of hitting the nail on the head.

We are supposed to be here for our mutual love of the game of pool. Not to shove our own opinion down someone else's throat.

We get it, you have strong opinions about aiming methods. I have no idea why anyone in the world of pool would feel this strong about aiming methods, but a whole list of you do.

What has to stop is the constant jabs and hijacking. I see people (who are chiming into this thread with "who me?" who take little pointed shots at others for no reason other than to bait them into an attack. Then when the attack comes, they come running to me to say "look at that user attacking me when I did nothing". It is like trying to babysit children.

You know, every once in a while a thread starts up that asks why, if we are a community of thousands of pool fans, we can't accomplish something positive for the game. One of the reasons is this childish behavior right here.

So what is someone disagrees with you about aiming methods. So what if pro player A uses the same method as you do? And so what if pro player B doesn't use the same method that someone else does.

None of this makes any difference to anything but your own ego.

If your method is best and you are 100% sure of it, then practice up some on the other areas of your game (since making balls will be automatic) and send Justin a PM. I am sure he can line Shane up to spar with you for a couple thousand on camera.

Until then, stop acting like children.

Mike

Neil, part of what this forum is about is the exchange of information and opinion. I am perfectly ok with sharing your opinion and debating that opinion within reason.

Look, I am no world beater but I can make a ball on occasion. I use ghost ball to aim. Does that mean that ghost ball is the "end all" of aiming methods? No way!!

I also use a predator cue and haven't played without a predator shaft in years. There are folks who swear by Predator and there are those who can't stand them. And they are both right, but it is what works best for them.

Sometimes when I watch some pros play, I can't see how they can make a ball with their goofy looking strokes. But it works for them and it works well.

What I would like to see is more "OPEN MINDED" conversation and a whole lot less "you are an idiot because you believe something".

This site has been around for a long time and it has seen a number of valuable posters leave because of the crap that goes on here. It has to stop. And it will stop. No matter what has to happen in order for it to stop.

It is pretty apparent that the number of threads here is too many for one or two people to effectively watch everything. Wilson does a very good (and thankless) job trying to keep on top of it all, but he can't watch everything. Neither can I.

So something is going to have to change around here. I think some people are going to either rein themselves way back in their offensive behavior or they are going to go away for a while.

(This note is for everyone) If you think I am referring to you, I probably am. If you are 100% positive that you are not who I am referring to, then feel free to continue posting the way you have been. I will let you know if you are wrong when you try to log in one of these days soon.

Mike, Jerry, Wilson: What kind of forum do you want here, one that gives instruction, or just a chat forum where anyone can say whatever they like as long as it is within the given rules?

If you no longer care about instruction, or don't give two hoots about the quality of it, then let us know. Seems to me like instruction and what's happening in the pool world is what got this site to where it is today.

Your sole problem arises with a few people. Some of us are willing to freely share knowledge on here to help others, and make this site even better. Due to a few people on here that are against instruction, problems have arisen. One only posts to knock professional instruction, then goes on to try and give instruction himself, but never responds to anything in his own threads. One is a hall of famer that only posts to knock instruction or a certain poster that also instructs on here. One has openly admitted to knocking instructors and instruction for sport.

So, my point is, if you do want people to give advice and instruction on here, then get rid of those that are actually causing the problems. Not those that just respond to the problem creators. A number of very good posters, such as Joe W., seldom post anymore, guys like Blackjack don't post at all, and all because of the free reign of the the guys that they know will antagonize them. Why are you even considering banning those that actually add value to the forum, and only respond in kind when provoked? Some of the antagonizers have even stated on here that they have been p.m.'ing each other about making sure that anytime someone posts something for instruction, and against what they want, which is no instruction, to report them. Enough reports, and they get all instructors and instruction banned on here. Is that what you want? Let us know? I know they have been reporting me. I would be very surprised if I wasn't even reported today for calling Lou out on his thread. I know I wasn't specifically mentioned, but if you guys have a problem with me and my posting, let me know, and I will leave. I feel like you do that it is getting pretty bad on here and driving away "customers". If you just want to get rid of those responding to the problems, then there is no point of being here, and it wouldn't be somewhere I would want to be anyways. I like to help others. If I can't do that without constantly being attacked by those that like to put their own spin on things, then screw it. Spidey, Champ, Joey, they aren't your problem, they are only responding to your problem. As far as "hijacking", there is a difference between hijacking and correcting mis-information. Take a good look at just who is doing the reporting of threads, do you see a trend there??

For YOU, it might be. I have advocated a number of aiming systems on here, as well as a variety of kicking systems, and several english sytems.
I also use a predator cue and haven't played without a predator shaft in years. There are folks who swear by Predator and there are those who can't stand them. And they are both right, but it is what works best for them.
Exactly

I know how it works for them, but it is not a way for someone else to try and emmulate.

I totally agree.

I totally agree. Which is exactly why some of us have called out others on what they have posted.

This could start a new aiming discussion. . .

I myself like bowling.

How do you aim when you bowl??? Do you look at the spots, or look at the pins???

Anyone who aims without using the spots is, IMHO, an idiot.

Why is there another thread in the MAIN forum, and "stickied" no less, about a friggin' AIMING dispute?!

Vacation the starter, he obviously has a hard time following simple instructions.
