I have used the moose head for a couple years with a lot of different shafts with no problems and I am finicky about my shafts. A cuesmith can usually steam out a dent. If you feel brave you can sand the tiniest bit in the dent and then put a drop of water there. Heat with a hot air gun or hair dryer and it will take the dent out sometimes.

Don't use the glass rod or bottle trick as that just makes the dent bigger and smoother although it will raise the bottom a little sometimes. You'll have to smooth and treat the area after raising the dent and you're back in business.

It was one of those shots to where i had to turn the head nearly 45% to avoid the balls that were in the way and there felt like a pinch on the shaft...
Oh well i was thinking about turning it down a couple mm anyways...

try a new bridge

try the omni-bridge, just google it. I have on and it uses ball berings to let the cue glide instead of slide. Feels like your holding the shaft with your hands, its around $30 but the best bridge on the market bar none.

I've used it for many years without a problem. Whenever I have it in a position like you describe I find another angle for the bridge or worst of all hold it in the air while I shoot.
It might be a good idea to take one of the slots that is seldom used and widen it. Maybe I'll try that with one of my bridges.

IMHO I think brand new shafts ding or scar easier than a older shaft. I had the similar problem with dings on a brand new 314 2 shaft. I have a lathe and refinished the shaft several times. But after I left the shaft in open air for several weeks the finish completely cured and the shaft no longer dings easy. BTW my dings where only finish deep but bugged the heck out of me. I am learning that sealer is to seal the wood and not put a thick finish. I think new stick come with too thick a finish on the shaft. But that is just my opinion.

$99 what are you talking about???????

The omni bridge looks interesting, but $99?

Ive never had a moosehead damage a shaft.

I don't know where you saw that for $99 bucks but if you did let me know, for I'm friends with the designer and he would be PEEVED to know that someone was trying to sell them at this price. They run about $30 dollars. I would never ever pay a hunderd bucks for a bridge that would be insane.

Does your friend that designed and sells these bridges have a website? Thank you. Johnnyt

I've been using the Justa Bridge for 3 years. Never had a problem and it almost has the same feel as holding it in my fingers. Great for getting over a stack of balls. Someone left a Deluxe Moosehead Bridge behind and I just left it at the counter. It turned out it belonged to a friend.

Eeek. Steel balls , teeny tiny contact points , that thing looks like dents just waiting to happen at the first sign of a wrong move.

and no sir no dents no problems been using it for over 2years and its perfect no damage to your cue ever, that you got my word on my friend

if i'm not mistaken he shut the site down, if you like I can give you his contact info (just pm me) and he will be glad to speak with you about the product.

I don't think normal use would dent it but I'd put moneu on it if you drop the shaft on it too hard or the shaft bounces on it after a hard shot etc.

Anywho . . .

I use a old leather bridge head , don't know who makes or made it but it's pretty idiot proof all around. ;)
