I believe it's the one you take before the match begins. Sometimes I make it a double.

That's a funny story. I would have to think that a attractive girl who plays better than an A player would have such an easy time as a hustler, considering there is always a guy who doesn't know a thing about pool trying to give them pointers.

Before I started playing seriously this guy came up to a friend of mine and decided to give her some advice. He basically told her to do everything we advise against on this forum. I didn't know it at the time because I was a banger, but it retrospect it was quite funny.
 
Depends on the level of play and the game.

After Sigel ran 150 and out on him at the 1992 US Open 14.1 event, Mike Zuglan felt quite certain that the most important shot in pool is the lag!

Stop Shot!

Stop shot = no spin on the cue ball at contact = tangent line = position on next shot. I hope most people on here knew this.

Other than that I would believe that the next ones are the break because if you dont make a ball you no longer are in control. And then the stop shot because it is such an important aspect of the game.
