The new AzBilliards

John, I just bumped Gold Members to 200. That should help.

Mike

Mike any chance to get a significantly higher PM storage for Gold members. It's really frustrating to have to constantly prune this box daily.

Every PM generates several back and forth responses and 150 pms is reached quickly.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already:

When you type in your screen name and password to login, you should be able to hit "ENTER" on keyboard without having to click on the login button.

The "default action" should be on that login button. I know it seems trivial, but it makes the login sequence way better.

Dave

I agree. Whether on a Mac, Windows, or Linux/Solaris/Unix box, I use keyboard shortcuts to speed my way through all GUIs. I try to avoid the noob "reach over for the mouse to do the mousey-mousey clicky-clicky" thing if at all possible.

The default form "action" should indeed to execute the method behind that Login button. It's just plain good coding sense, and best-practice.

A suggestion: On the calendar page, provide an easy way to add/suggest an event. Maybe a simple form to fill out plus comments.

I see a button to add event (top right) but you need authorization.

My calendar seems to be stuck in the past. There is no 2013 option to view?

Can you email me a screen grab of what you are seeing?

There are *two* Calendar tabs up at the top, which might be a wee bit confusing.

One is gold, and the other is green.

I wonder if one of them should be re-named to something else. The gold Calendar tab is mainly for birthdays only. It could really be eliminated, maybe. The birthdays pop up anyway, if people have that clicked in their USER CP settings.

The gold Calender tab page is also out of date.

my bad, sorta.... I was talking about what JAM said, the gold calendar tab.....not the green one.

in my gold calendar tab, the calendar ends last year.

is there something i'm supposed to do or click to make it current?
(not that i desperately need to use it)

Maybe it was like the Mayan calendar, and just ends

The Indent function for portions of a post doesn't seem to be working for me any more.

I like the look & feel but as someone who promotes tourneys I wonder about the impact. The new "US Tournament" section link is way, way down the page and I have noticed a huge decrease in views.

This is the off-season but I still feel affected. I guess I will see & hear more in June & August. I do hope the tourney section finds itself in a more prominent position on the page in the future.

The re-ordering of the sub forums is definitely not set in stone. I have heard a couple complaints about it moving down on the page.

Mike,

Just got back from the ACS event in Vegas to find the new look website. Sure looks and runs great. You guys have done a super job with the re-design. Count on me to renew my Gold membership when it comes time. Worth every penny! Guess I just don't understand why so few others understand the value of this site to the pool and billiards community.

So far, I've been unimpressed with the new AZB forum skin and have switched back to the old "Tech Two" skin. In the Main Forum, the Sticky threads appear to have a light green background that is extremely hard on my eyes. A neutral colored background would be better.

Some other comments about the new Forum skin:
At the top of the screen where you Login, there are actually two places to Login, one right underneath the other. Having two places to Login is a inefficient use of screen space.

After you do Login, I have the following comments:
- The "User CP" button and the "Settings" button have identical functionality. One of these buttons should be removed.
- There are two "Logout" command buttons, one right beneath the other. One of these duplicate buttons should be removed.
- There are two places to access your Private Messages, one from the Inbox and the other from the Private Messages. Since both methods perform the same function and are positioned so close to each other, one should be removed.

In the past, many users have commented that the Search function leaves a lot to be desired. So I think it would be extremely useful to make the Search feature more robust.

Man, I feel just the opposite. I am digging the new forum and its colors. I love the buttons at the top, even if they are two that do the same thing. In MS-Word and other software, there's always one or two ways to accomplish a task.

The overall theme to the new forum is much, much better to my eyes. I really like it.

I guess to each their own. While some hem and haw, I'm sniffing and scurrying, enjoying the change. ;)

Sniff and scurry like a mouse all you want, Jammie. Only a computer neophyte like you would think that having two Logout buttons on the screen so close to each other represents progress and change.

Regarding the MS-Word and other software, at least they present the duplicate functions in different modalities. The Print command, for example, could be displayed on the Graphical User Interface as a command icon button but could also be found under the Menu Bar drop-down list.

You have to understand that the login / logout function are only doubled when you are in the forums; We had to place that box on the site too, where it is not doubled. The screen space is put to good use here, since we started designing the site, not the forums.

user cp and setting send to the same link for now, it's a limitation from the forum software not to be able to send you to the proper link. We're trying to fix that.

we made two icons for user cp and inbox because the alerts you get when you have a new message are not the same that when you have a new warning on your user cp. Therefore, we chose to make it separate so people could see if they have a new PM or just a new action on their user page.

Search function is 100% coming from the forum software, but we could maybe make it more user friendly.

Again, you can revert to tech two if you wish, that's perfectly fine. The new forum skin has been only made because it made sense to do it for the relaunch of the site. The site is the big deal here. We're getting some updates done and we'll work on the forums later.

Thanks for your feedback, always appreciated.
