The New OB Classic shaft - Test Drive - It's HOT STUFF!

Poolplayer,

We do have a couple of wrapless cues that haven't been pushed much.

They are clear blonde curly maple front and back with a cocobolo handle. One with the steel joint like our other cues and a new one with a white thermoplastic joint. I would post a pic, but I'm at home and don't have them here.

I will try to put them up tomorrow.

Other than that, I don't have anything right now, but I do want to expand our line. Not enough time in the day!

Since the dealer letter about pricing and availability will be going out tomorrow, I can go ahead and release the pricing for the new shafts.

Both new shafts, the Classic and the Classic Pro, will be the same price as our current shafts!

MSRP $235.00

We are still priced well below our competitors, and we are 100% made in the USA!

Thanks

The dealer notices went out yesterday so those of you who have inquired with your favorite dealers should be able to get pricing and availability!

We have orders coming in now, so many of the dealers will have shafts soon!

Thanks!

I would assume so.

Even Clarke of Schon buys our partial shafts and installs his joint for the Schon logo'd shafts. I would expect he would do the same for these, but I haven't seen an order from him as of yet. The information is just really getting out to the dealers, so I should be hearing from him soon.

Call him and ask for it if you are interested in one. He would provide the pricing for those shafts, so you need to hit him up about that too.

The Classic is a meaty 12.75 mm with a fairly stiff 16" modified pro taper. There's plenty of meat on the shaft making it quite a bit stiffer than a Predator. It's a solid shaft - no hollow core. It basically feels like a high quality conventional shaft. The ferrule is a short, 1/4" white piece and I believe the tip is an Everest. It weighs in just shy of 4 ounces.

I tried a OB-1 & OB-2 Shafts when they first came out and liked the feel of them, I just didn't like the ferrule that was on it, visual thing I guess, don't know. I will be getting one after the good reviews if it is even a stiffer hit than the OB-2, plus the 1/4 white ferrule. Are the OB-1 & OB-2 both hollowed out with the foam insert??? I know the Classics are solid. Thanks, Ron

Ron,

All the OB line of shafts are drilled all the way through and a noise dampening foam is installed in the hole. This does not go all the way to the tip though. The last several inches does have a pin of a special light weight material installed in that hole.

The Classic line of shafts has the same tip end treatment with the light weight center core, but the remainder of the shaft is not drilled through, so it's solid.

The tip end treatment is what gives the LD properties to our shafts.

Thanks! I am confident that you will like the way it plays.

I got a chance to hit a few balls around with the OB Classic Pro shaft last night.... I LOVED it!

I will be getting one very soon!

Mark,

Yes, we will be in Vegas for the BCA

Royce

Nice. I just got my OB break shaft back from Jacoby who matched my insert and collar. Its has a nice solid feel with a great punch. I need more time with it. I play with a 314-2, so I'm interested to see how it feels. I tried your OB-1, but it was the ferrule that I just couldn't get used to. However, the break shaft has the same ferrule, but that's just one shot. I will see you in Vegas.
Cheers, Mark

Mark,

You will have to try the new Classic when you see us in Vegas!

It looks like it is going to be very popular!

Justin,

It was great having you and Hunter join us for Pool 300 last night!

Give me a call and we can get you into a new Classic!

Royce,

What is the standard joint size on your ready to play shafts?

Any chance for getting a demo to north dakota?

Are you ever or can I special order a 13mm regular OB-0 maybe?

Maybe I should just call?

I want to try one so bad but I'm so cheap!!

RADIAL PIN .842 needed at the joint for a flawless fit and no more money needed to spend, heavy shaft = better shaft to me

Greg,

The joint sizes are all different for the different pins. The Radial is .842" so that should be a good fit. If you really want flawless, I recommend a partial and having a cue maker fit it for you. This way could be cheaper too if you have a buddy to do the work for you pretty cheap. Partials are $157.25.

We have built the OB shafts at 13mm by special request. We can do the same for the Classic if you like. No additional charge, but it would probably at least 4 to 6 weeks to get it out.

Thanks

We just had two more partials fit to my friends cue and the shafts were very consistent in weight, feel, and playability. Tiger Products fitted the shafts for us in one day using their phenolic collar and insert.

My buddy wanted them as long as possible. The partials finished up a little over 30" and the weight was 4.5 ounces at that length. The shafts were within 1/10th of an ounce of each other and played identical.

Chris

Ps. I can't wait to try the new OB Classic break shaft.

I need to hit with one of these

Okay, I am going to send off my cue soon for a refinish and rewrap. I would like to get 2 identical shafts fitted to the cue with the matching rings at the same time.

The cue was originally made with a first gen 314 from a blank. I have the 314, I also have a 314-2, and an OB1.

I really like the OB1 and the wood ferule has never even been the slightest thought for me. I love the way that shaft plays and feels.

I understand the construction differences between the OB1 and the new classic, but how is the feel affected? Is the main feature a white ferule and solid construction with everything else pretty much the same?

For example, I can switch from my 314 to the OB1 pretty easily. I find that the deflection difference is almost unnoticeable and an automatic adjustment. I really do not need to adjust my aim, but the difference in the hit and feel is very noticeable.

I am very interested in doinf 2 of these, but am not fond of the idea of getting 2 custom shafts on just hearing of these.

Should I just get a factory shaft for my cue to try, then just sell it off if it does not suit me? Anyone have a loaner/rental for me? I would be more than happy to pay shipping both ways. Anyone in my area got one of these for me to try? Pool time and drinks are on me for the opportunity to try one of these out.

I would prob be very happy with getting these shafts made, but am not comfortable on just rolling the dice and hoping I like it, to find out in the first 10 minutes of shooting with it, I made a mistake!:yikes:

Open to any and all suggestions. I am in south FL by the way. West Palm Beach area.
