Introducing our long awaited new project, the Runout Media Video Magazine.

I realize this is long overdue, but late is better than never, right? :p

UPDATE: The first 2 segments of the first issue are now posted online (the first 26 minutes of a 75 minute issue), available to watch for free at the following location (new segments added every Monday and Friday):

http://www.runoutmedia.com/vidmagoverview.html

Our aim is to introduce a modern medium to gain positive exposure for our sport. Everyone talks about why pool is currently in a troubled state, so here is our honest attempt at making a difference. Please help us achieve this goal by sharing this page with fellow pool enthusiasts, or by spreading it through social media (Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc).

Also feel free to subscribe. After all, we have to pay these ridiculous flight, hotel, and equipment costs somehow. :p

Anyway, sorry for making this look like an advertisement (and I guess it technically is), but since I'm doing this out of passion for our sport (rather than for money), I figured maybe you would all let it slide. :)

I'd also like to thank everyone again for donating to Angel's fundraiser a few weeks ago. The forum got me back on track, and this project was saved from the brink of disaster. Those of you who donated have been credited with partial or full annual paid subscriptions (the login info will be mailed to these people at a later date). Thanks again everyone.

Here's an excerpt from the Runout Media website with a few more details for you curious folk. :)

Although billiards is one of the world's most popular sports, it has very little global coverage. Current billiard magazines are years behind in both technology and quality. Since billiards is an action sport, it translates much better to video than it does to print. Unfortunately exposure through televised content continues to diminish.

Runout Media recognizes the increasing gap within the industry, and now aims to fulfill this demand by releasing a high-end video magazine. Our excellent reputation coupled with our high production value will allow us to quickly establish ourselves as the dominant media force within the industry.

Featuring nine issues per year, a new issue will be available every six weeks. Displayed in 720p HD, each issue will have an approximate running time of 65 minutes. The videos will be streamed using a subscription based member login system on our website, allowing viewers instant access to secure content.

The video magazine will follow a non-traditional approach to billiard coverage. Whereas current television and magazine reporting relies on matches, scores, and news, our focus will instead be directed towards player personalities, behind the scenes action, and international culture.

Issue #1 will be released in 15 minute installments twice weekly, available to watch entirely for free on the Runout Media website (shown above). This will allow potential subscribers to see our unparalleled content, quality, and dedication before committing to purchasing a subscription. Issue #2 will launch January 1st, marking the beginning of the first subscription annum.

Each issue will be available online for $12.99. You may also subscribe at a discounted rate of $9.99 per issue when purchasing a yearly membership (9 issues for $89.95) by clicking the 'add to cart' button below. The option to offer a year end box-set of physical copies (DVDs) will also be explored if there is sufficient demand.

The whole issue is 75 minutes long. Stay tuned for the next segment, which will be added on Friday. :)

And thanks Ray. Your support is much appreciated.

Nathan,

I've said this before and I will say it again: You never cease to amaze me. You are an amazing young man with an attention to detail second to none.

Some people say they promote the sport but are just supporting themselves and just looking for whatever cash they can, even if it leaves a negative influence upon the game we love so much - skin deep. Others say they promote the sport; but, when it comes time to step up, they punk out and only jump in when it brings attention to them and them alone. You, on the other hand, support the sport to the bone marrow and have proven that to me time and time again.

Continue on my friend and I will do my utmost to support this new and exciting genre you have created.

Great job sir! I commend you for working to get some much needed exposure for the game of pool, very well done. Wishing you success.

Thanks everyone!

Especially kind words from Bob.

I am however very dissatisfied with the quality of youtube's HD. It can't support a sufficient bit-rate, and is making my video look like garbage.

Does anyone know of a free host that offers higher quality? I know Vimeo is nice, but they don't allow advertisements for products and such (I have ads for my Mastering Pool and Venom DVDs in later segments of the free issue).

Cleary, any ideas?

WOW!! Watching Earl one stroke those balls in in HD was just like having a front row seat. This is great stuff.

" I wish I had a frikkin Sea Helmet on, A Sea Helmet" Earl....Classic

Coming up in the next segment is "A day in the life of Mika Immonen"...but next issue we have " A day in the life of Earl Strickland" it is pure gold.

Eric,

Based on what these young whippersnappers have put together, we are going to have front row seats for life. I get the beer the first time and you bring the snacks. We'll switch ever six weeks....deal?

I have never ran into a vimeo problem with ads, but who knows.
