One night... You and one cue of your dreams, maker or specific cue, what you shooting with.......

Bonus question... What would you shoot with if all the money is on the line...

I'm lucky enough to own the cue of my dreams. It was a gift, bought off these forums a couple years ago. Early 70s joss.

Dream cue would be a Searing and cue I'd play with all the money on the line would be my OB Sneaky

At this moment, my Owen or EP cue........however, let me underscore the word....."moment".
I'll get back to you next month and I may have a different answer........got my fingers crossed.

My dream cue is a Hercek and my 2nd choice is a Szamboti.......Imagine having Szamboti as 2nd?

dream cue would be a nice 4 pointe bushka style level 3 cue by Scruggs, and if it were money on the line it would be the same cue.

Okay, while we're dreaming...here's my dream:

$20,000 money match against SVB. He's playing with his expensive, custom CueTec, while I grab a house cue off the rack. Race to 21. I win 21-1 (had to let him win a game so he wouldn't feel so bad).

I don't want to wake up!

I really don't dream about cues. I use a Keith Josey, but the truth is, I shoot about the same with any of them.

I simple Rambow style cue. Ivory or similar joint, black collars. Four point Hoppe colors. 57 1/2 inch 12 3/4 I have had several like that but always seemed to let them get away from me. Absolutely no inlay, just a simple cue.

The cue that I feel most comfortable with and attached to it would be that best player I can be at that given moment.

That cue needs to feel special to me, it can be looks, cuemaker, specs, etc that gives me a great feel and with great feel I know I can "play" any game at my best at that given moment.

Regards

Christian

Cues I have that gives me that feel is from Rick (Esoteric), Mike Lambros to name a few.

Nice old house cue. The shaft tapered and sanded by hand starting with 50 grit up to 600 grit, may as well use a chainsaw.
Hiding the cue in ceiling tiles or the girls bathroom, thats cue love.

I have a few pretty cues, I think they hit good because I am use to them, someone else may say they suck.
I can miss with any cue.

My dream is to have time and funds to make my cue by myself with a little help of experienced cuemakers.

Don't know what maker but I know what it would look like. Old style maybe Bushka with 4 points. Points yellow, orange, purple, and black. White/light green cortland linen or black raised leather wrap. Inlays the less the better. Simple.

I'll answer the bonus question first. For all the money, a Tim Scruggs rosewood plain four pointer made for me in 1985. More confidence with that than any.

The more interesting question, for one night only. Sort of like the girl of your dreams for one night only, right? (Or man, for the ladies). Possibilities are endless. For one night only, it seems that only a historic cue would do. There could be:

- Mosconi's Bushka
- Any of Eddie Taylor's Paradise cues, which he made more banks with than anyone in history
- The Golden Balabushka, reportedly George's most valuable???
- Ernie Gutierrez' silver-inlaid cue
- Luther Lassiter's well-used fancy cue (could be a Bushka, others have said Tad or Gina)
- Willie Hoppe's three cushion cue, pictured in his well-known book.
- Babe Cranfield's Rambow, which today probably stands as the highest run of 768 by any cue, whether exhibition or practice (many other threads available on this).

No, I think there is one that stands above all others, for the "one night stand." That would be Willie Mosconi's Rambow with which he ran the 526. Granted, it's not necessarily the highest run, but it's the official one. And why not have the one-night stand with this cue? It would be mine.

By now, you know I often come with a pictorial teaser. Here it is. Way back in the 90s, a Smithsonian article about pool cues, imagine that. First page is Steve Glenn holding the famous Mosconi Rambow, while the second page shows that Rambow among other great cues. Enjoy.
