The Philippines vs Taiwan!

So they are sending the Philippines B team. Carlo and Chua are the only top players on their side. It's a good team but certainly not their best. Where is Dennis Orcollo, Jeff DeLuna, Roberto Gomez, Warrem Kiamco, Francisco B. or Lee Vann Corteza?

I too think Taiwan takes it. With Efren playing, Taiwan is getting a big advantage. Efren is the GOAT however he is old now and he does not have the eyes of a 20+ or 30 year old. If he will be playing mostly doubles then that might be a different story...
Why so down on Ignacio, Jay? His top gear is on par if not better than anybody else's.
Yes, he's a good second tier player in the Philippines. He has yet to have a breakthrough in major competition.
And how about Roland Garcia? Current runner-up at World 9b Championships aint that bad I guess..
Dennis should be in there, but his image recently is all about money games so I dont know if they want him to represent in this event, Jeff DeLuna is playing World Cup of Pool so it's easy to understand they may give the spot to other player, the rest I dont think they are any significantly better than Jeff Ignacio and Roland Garcia, Roland is in form now with those high finishes in recent big tournaments. Efren is in for "advertising", everyone loves to see him, and he is still very good, every team needs a experienced player, he is the one!
Maybe the so-called " better " A players know they maybe massacred against taiwan team B too by the way.
Taiwan's A- team will be wu chia ching, ko brothers , chang jung lin n chang yulung.
Efren and alex knows better than to gamble with a chinese taipei player.
Alex once said in an interview, if yang is playing , im not playing or betting against him ala dennis or orcollo !
Okay, here is the inside scoop. This match is an exhibition, albeit a good one. There is only appearance money on the line and not so much to attract all the top Filipino players who are currently doing better by playing here. Dennis and others could have played if they so desired.
If anyone thinks that Dennis will be "massacred" playing against anyone then please look me up for a bet the next time he is playing and let me know. I will make a standing bet right now of 500 or more on Dennis against anybody he plays this year! That includes any and all Chinese, Taiwanese, European or American players. Big tables only. Small table matches are all a toss up imo among the top players.
Absoulutely, i think it will be more appropriate n respectful to say that it is an exhibition among both side's elites.
As for Dennis, i think the past money games kings has given up waiting for him, most have in fact move on with their life.
Yang has gone fishing after tearing him apart 9 n 10 ball , Shane owns a couple properties n a pool hall in the states , wu has move on to take over a multi-million biz in china while Dennis is still ... Playing POOL.
Also, i doubt Dennis will have it easy on Chang Jung lin , Biado Shaw or even semi-retired wu.
In fact i wld like to see robocop play a long race to 30 against eagle eye shaw.

Thanks for this. The biggest difference is desire! Dennis still loves to play pool and continues to work hard to get better. He wants to be the best. It's that simple. :smile:
P.S. Dennis owns two homes in the Philippines, both fully paid for!
