The rail is killing me!

yep i like making you guys/gals laugh.....the funniest things are those that are usually true.

I do walk around saying stupid s**t like that, I do screw with soliciters like that....but its all part of something I learned in sales some time ago....FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT

If you keep repeating things like that it will help the process to become natural much much faster.

I'll make you piss your pants till you need the 5 ball,

I have always had the same problem with shooting the CB frozen to the rail. Just got Max Erbele's DVD's. He addresses how to shoot those shots. Really works. Of all the instructions and videos that I have it is the first time that I have seen the method he uses. Well worth getting the DVD's. Made a tough game winner during league play using what I learned from it.

Don't want to give the "secret" and ruin sales for him.

P.S I feel giving out the method is the same as the BCA instructors protecting their mother drills. The method they teach for shooting off the rail is not as good as Max's. I highly recommend the BCA instructions to anyone that is serious about the game, but as we all know you can't learn everything in 3 days. It is a continuing process and there are many opinions and methods.

Rail shot

Number one. Chalk up. Number two, chalk up. Okay, I think you got through that. Hold stick as level as you can. Your probably shooting high on the cue so trust yourself. Its a tough shot, just have to practice. Oh, by the way always try to play the bounce off the rail and you won't be there. Well I might as well say this also cause I feel instructive tonight. If you have no clue of where or how to go to someplace your not sure of anyway, GO TO THE CENTER OF THE TABLE. Their are more options in the center of table than anywhere. My mother said I could have been an astronaut if I had only applied myself!!

Not sure if this was mentioned already as I didn't read the whole thread (sorry). When the cue is on the rail I try to remember to umm, "push down" on the shot. I don't know how this works but for whatever reason if I push downward, as in try to push my entire cue stick down into the ground, just a general downward pressure while I shoot the shot ... I tend to do much better.

A good drill to practice using this technique is to break a 15 ball rack and then take ball in hand after break and after every shot ... but it is ball in hand against the rail. You can choose anywhere on the table to put the cue ball provided it is against a rail with your bridge behind a rail. Then use the "downward pressure" technique I mentioned and see if you can run out a full rack.
