The "Riv"...

FYI: Here is some additional info on rooms. Also remember who supported the pool industry during the 'good' times. Competing hotels do not have the costs that the Riviera does since they are hosting the pool tournament.

Subject: The Riviera has $85 rooms -- for up to 4 people per room!

The Riviera Hotel & Casino has $85 rooms … for up to 4 people per room!

Reserve Now!

YES, the rate is the same whether you reserve the room for 1, 2, 3, or 4 people.

... And the same on weekends.

Don't fall into any of the "cheap room" traps when booking Vegas. Most Las Vegas hotels charge extra for more than two adults in a room, and more on weekends. In fact, the two hotels closest to the Riviera are charging $15 and $35 (EACH!) right now for the 3rd and 4th person in a room.

So, we suggest that you get the accommodations you need at the Riviera, and DO IT NOW while your accommodations are still available. You just can’t beat being able to go upstairs for something you forgot, or for a quick break between matches.

The Riviera Hotel & Casino has done more for pool and pool players than any other hotel in the world. They know and love pool and pool players, and they leave no stone unturned to help build better pool tournaments.

AND, that is why they deserve your patronage…

Make your reservations for The Greatest Pool Tournament in the World! … at the Riviera Hotel & Casino . . . .

The Riviera has spent millions renovating the casino and the guest towers since last year. Their new "Signature Rooms" have flat screen TVs, new bathrooms, and pillow top Euro beds. ... See you in May!

TWO THINGS:

1) Mark is 100% right

2) I'm not back(Dont worry about that, save a few freinds I dont miss it here), I come here and look at cue pics on occasion and olny posted this as a heads up for NEXT year for people. And for them to not worry about this year, stay at the Riv!!!!

I'll help the Riv out. Make sure the GM of the hotel is there to meet me and we can walk around. I'll point out all the rude, tenured employees to him and other instances on a day to day basis on why no one thinks of it as a place to stay.

After that, we can go to Katy's and stand in line for 40 minutes while they have over 20 tables empty but refuse to seat us.

Then we can go have dinner at their buffet that I wouldn't feed to my dog. I won't be eating - just watching the GM have his meal.

I couldn't agree more with these statements. I am sure the Riveria was only in it to "help out" pool players not make a profit.

When ever I go to Vegas for something other than pool, the Riv is the last place I would stay. The staff couldn't be more rude and unappreciative. not to mention the lousy over priced food. I am sure with the lack of conventions in Vegas right now there would be more than a few other casinos that would love to have their convention hall and hotel rooms booked for the entire month of May. I would gladly pay an extra $10 - $15/night per person to have it anywhere but the Riv. Just my 2 cents.

How about the remodel.........

They just finished a remodel on some of the rooms. Guess that didnt work to well.

What happens when the economy picks back up and that new venue charges you double or even triple what you would've paid if it were still at the Riviera?

I only use my hotel to sleep in for a few hrs a night. I don't like paying a ridiculous amount per night for a hotel room that I spend less time in than I do anywhere else in Vegas.

Again, you take the good with the bad. I sleep at the Riviera, I eat elsewhere. I would rather pay for a cheaper room at the Riviera, and use the money that I saved on room costs at a nice restaurant or Vegas show.

Most of the time there is a contract for a number of years to lock in rates. When, or should I say IF the US economy picks back up and the host wants to jack up the rates then you look elsewhere. Who says it has to stay in Vegas, what about Atlantic City, FL, TX etc. There are a lot of places I wouldn't mind going to play at. Just because it has always been in Vegas doesn't mean it has to stay in Vegas.

I think Mark has done a great job with the BCA and I think he is smart enough to know that it's not the location of the event that makes it great, but the event itself that people want to be at. I would just like the host location to put a little effort into pleasing the customer instead of me feeling like I have to make them happy spending my money there. At a large resort/casino I shouldn't have to go down the street to get a descent meal or have the Do Not Disturb sign ignored by housekeeping when my wife is sick and is trying to sleep, or not have a waitress come by the poker tables for 75 min to get a drink. For the same or less amount of money I spend at the Riv I can get an all inclusive resort in Puerta Vallarta and have people wait on me hand and foot.

Friend called me last night he just got back from Las Vegas and staying at the Riviera. Just got my VNEA magazine and the VNEA has negotiated a $79 Room rate with the Riviera with upto 4 people.

would they take $80?

Wonder if they would take $80? It will take four pool players hours to negotiate who pays what at $79!

Riviera room rates

The VNEA has always been a couple dollars less than the BCAPL. The dates they have always seem to have a historically less demand than our dates. At least that is what the Riviera has felt.

Hotel rates are a result of supply and demand.

As demand returns to Las Vegas, all the hotels will raise their rates again, But the Riviera for years has offered reasonable rates to the pool players - even though the events straddle two weekends.

I love Puerta Vallarta too, but I think the cost to transport 250+ pool tables might be cause to lease an entire cruise liner.

Ouch! A lil harsh, but it does take a while at Katy's Cafe sometimes. It depends on how late ya sleep in. The Pepper Mill next door has some good stuff and never a wait over there.

Mark is about 2/3rds right as the VNEA is later in to the HEAT of Summer, when RATES fall in Sin City. The Month of May sometime is still fairly cool at night compared with June, July, August, and, September.

Wow, I didn't know you got comps for free slot tournaments!

JK! Just a little joke! Personally, my schedule in Vegas is all over the place. Therefore, I usually go to nice little motels where you can rent by the hour. Who needs it for a day when you will only be sleeping for 3-6 hours?
