I was playing in a tournament a few weeks ago and struck up a conversation with a couple of guys while I was waiting for my first match. As we were trading stories they both told me about a player who was known for getting a running start and hitting the cue ball on the break. They claimed he could hit it with astounding accuracy and the rack would explode. Has anyone ever witnessed anything like this? I think it would be a cool thing to see.
This is something I never heard of before.
So a few hours ago I decided to give it a go! As my break has been horrible my entire pool playing life. I can’t get any power on the CB.
I decided that I should use cues that I’m familiar with and have owned some time, the ones I “know” so I would have success faster. What could go wrong?
I snapped 3 Gus’s in half, one Bushka(Spain blank) 2 Barry’s, and a Black Boar. The Southwest held up great. I have a few cuts and bruises. The X-rays all came back with no fractures and the doctor said I’d be ok. He had never seen a “pool playing” injury before.
when I explained to him how bad my break is he understood my persistence in trying this new method of breaking the balls.
I’d like to tell more about it, but I have to get to bed early. I need to call Barry in the morning-I have lots of explaining to do. And begging him to repair the shattered cues.
It’s amazing how loud those cues are when they split in half on the head rail. I had no idea.
Just wanted to say a special thanks to the OP for this idea and helping my break.
Best
