The Second Envelope Case by My Friend the Leather Worker!!!

Hi all,

Well, here's a peek at the newest envelope case that my friend (hereafter known as The Grumpy Old Cowboy) just completed. If you didn't see the first one, you can see his very first attempt at case building here:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=141687

This is his second, and he's already changed a few things he didn't like with the first one. He's molded the top as well as the case itself to facilitate easier opening and closing. It adds a different look to the case, I think. He has also gone to black suede for the shaft tubes and the inside lining.

The tooling on this case is absolutely phenomenal! He uses very few leather stamps in his work. He thinks they are "cheating" as far as hand tooling goes. He's very big on freehand work. His attention to detail still amazes me.

Enough rambling already, enjoy the pictures!

Steve

Very, very nice! It amazes me how all of the sudden the case market has just exploded.

Thanks Tommy! If anyone has an eye for cases, it's you...

I appreciate your post Trustbran, Mahalo to you!

It does seem like more and more casemakers are coming out of the woodwork, Doug. This guy's not your typical newbie, though. I think you need one in your collection!

You're lucky guy to have a friend like this. Nice tight uniform layout of carve pattern. Correct me, but it look like it handsew?

Very nice. How do I get one?

I'll have a couple more available before the maker starts doing spec work. I'll post them up as they are finished. If you're interested, please PM me so that I can keep a record of who is interested, etc., in my archives. When one is available, I'll contact you. After that, he plans on doing some really high end cases to the customers specifications.

Thanks for asking!

Steve
