The truth about Jeanette Lee

Hello everyone. first off, this is a fantastic website. a lot of interesting stuff..

okay so, i always hear pool players and people bashing Jeanette Lee. Saying shes a ***** or what not and she is a horrible shooter. well let me ask you all something. Have you ever meet her? well i have and i can tell you that anything negative that you may have heard about Jeanette is so completely false. I had the Privilege of meeting her at an IPT qualifier In Orland Park, Illinois at Protyme Billiards and she is such a nice person and a true pool player. She treated everyone with such respect and kindness. She didnt hesitate to chat or to take a picture with you. and for the people that have said that she is a horrible shooter, You obiviously have a different perspective on the game because she is no where near horrible, she's a champ.

To sum up, Dont dog someone that you never meet. One its rude and two it starts nasty rumors and trends. People like to talk trash and the listeners like to agree when someone is getting bashed, and the go along with it. Its not right to do. you all take care, and i hope to hear some good responses. Bottom line, Jeanette Lee is the S@*t :)

Ok. Even though I suspect he may have been referring to my original post from June, I do feel a need to defend jamup here. As you will note, I highlighted a sentence above in jamup's quote. He specifically says that he "always hears" people bad-mouth Jeanette. Thus, he is not making any direct reference to anything he has read here. He could simply be talking about things he hears people say in pool rooms. And that is not out of the scope or realm of possibility.

In fact, there is no reference to anything he may have read on this forum.

Is it possible that he read the aforementioned thread? Sure.
Is it likely? Don't know.
Does he make reference to it at all? No.

Maybe we should cut the guy a little slack.

It could be a case of cocktails and jealousy and someone that doesn't get allot of attention in their life. When she became well off (after allot of effort ) becoming the Black Window her peers would also pick on her and we know how women can treat other women when jealousy comes into play. She has come a long way since the late 80's and married a wonderful man that compliments them both.

Our opinions can (should) only be formed by our own experiences.

Experiences are one thing. However, to say that "Our opinions can (should) only be formed by our own experiences" is another. Have you experienced the poverty and diseases racking Africa at the moment? Probably not. I haven't, but I know they are terrible. One doesn't need to drink polluted water to know it's bad for you. My point? Experience should not be the unique criterion for forming an opinion; other's views on a subject may exert reasonable influence on our thinking. By the way, have you ever experienced radiation sickness?

I agree. We all have predispositions and opinions based on our experiences, and sometimes they are difficult to overcome. But experiences aren't the only thing we should use to form opinions.

Also, I believe we should keep an open mind to the possibility that are experiences or lack of may cause us to form an incorrect opinion about things. Our experience with something may not be the norm, and because of that, our opinion may be inherently flawed.

I don't have an opinion about this subject. I just wanted to point how you seperated pool players from people. I think you may be on to something :) I wish I could be a people too.

I am guilty of saying she is not a great player... I have met her and, I agree, she is a very nice, sociable, person. great personality and everybody around her seems to like her too.

As far as my comments, in past threads, about her shooting ability - They were purely about pool skill and nothing to do with her person. I think I said she will never make it to the IPT because she is not good enough... which she is'nt... I'm sure most agree with that. She is a fantastic player on the WPBA but thats the minor leagues and she has a long way to go to play with the best in the world.

Too bad she did not apply to the IPT. She would have made the list for sure. It must be heartbreaking to watch the IPT train roll on by helplessly knowing she would have had a reserved seat if she only asked :(

Hopefully I'm wrong and she'll blow through a qualifer...

:D Well ! For your first post you managed to...
1) get responses!!!
2)let everyone know you were at / attended / read about / was in a IPT qualifier and somehow met Jeanette plus got to "speak" to her! Good Work!

Jeanette Lee is "A Number One" in my book!

And that is because she tells it like it is in her book ("The Black Widow’s Guide to Killer Pool").

The first part of the book is basic playing instruction, but one of the last chapters discusses what it is like to be an up and coming player. Difficulties to overcome with fellow players, etc.

I have loaned or read from this book to fellow players who are having difficulties with other players and it makes them feel like they are not alone. It gives them the courage to continue on and deal with the negativity from some fellow players.

An excellent book!

I have to disagree. For a first post, jamup managed to both compliment Jeanette and smear her with innuendo and gossip. This manner of trashing people's reputations has got to stop.

Actually I do not believe the poster ever really met her.

is it fair to say she is no longer one of the younger players on the circuit?

Wow.

I have seen Jeanette play in about 4 tournaments IIRC. The first time I saw her was at DCC 2004. After she was knocked out of the 9-ball division by HillBilly (as much as I like the guy he went out of his way to show her up in the final game) and even after that she stuck around and signed autographs and posed for pics (for free) FOR OVER AN HOUR.

The last time I saw her she had her daughter Cheyenne in tow in the lobby of the hotel at the Peoria event. A couple of middle-aged fans asked for an autograph and even though they had no Sharpie. Jeanette literally dumped her purse out on the ticket takers table to find a sharpie to give these folks a sig.

I can't say nuthin bad about Jeanette, She seems to be a class act all the way.

and ditto for jenn barretta

She is super nice. That's why she has sponsorship deals out the yingyang, and is even moving into broadcasting. She did an exhibition in Germany for the soldiers, talked to us for a few minutes, and even held my son. I tried to ask her for her number, but my wife wouldn't quit hanging around. :p

She played a few people during the exhibition, and ran out every time anyone missed, so yeah, she plays pretty sporty. If she set up a gambling match where Johnny Archer broke for her, she'd probably be able to win against a very high percentage of today's male pros.

Russ

I don't think so. I don't even think Allison could win if she had a big break. They play average safeties, kicking is sub-par, they are just good shotmakers, thats about it. Their cueball control is way below a male pro's.
