KT wanted O'Sullivan badly on the IPT due to his popularity in Europe.

Anyone familiar with Ronnie knows he doesn't get out of bed for less than 10k and that he has a history of holding invitational snooker tourneys hostage for hefty sums.

Evidently, KT promised O'Sullivan hefty, hefty, appearance fees for his participation in the IPT yet was unable to secure those funds for last years KOTH, managed to scrape some cash together for Vegas, but again came up short for Reno.
 
Sure, he came up with at least 6 million to run the first two events but couldn't scrape together 10k for Ronnie.

Do you just make this stuff up?

Given he hasn't paid many players for both events I doubt he's spent more than a couple of million at most, and atleast half I suspect he's clawed back in qualifiers. We have no idea how much he's made from sponsorship but overall I doubt he's millions out of pocket, until he pays for players of course. I suspect he hoped never to dig into his own pockets much at all!

That being said I doubt he paid Ronnie much at all and I didn't expect ROnnie to turn up for them all. His ear complaint is infamous, he didn't dominate, he gets bored way too easily and he doesn't like to travel - I'd be suprised if Ronnie ever plays on the IPT again.

Whatever, it's not likely far off. I've negotiated for the top snooker pros before. Recent world champs go from UK 10k pounds plus travel, Ronnie a little more. Whatever the figure, it ain't but a small fraction of the expenditure.

I've yet to see confirmed that 'many' players haven't been paid for Vegas. I'm pretty sure we would have heard more about that if it were true. If it is true it's severely troublesome.

As for the 6 million I quoted. From my experience in the event marketing business, this is probably the minimum for his expenditures in the first 2 events imho. These events are not run like the typical pool events. All the bells and whistles cost big bucks.

KOTH broadcasting production alone must have set the IPT back at least a 800k. Probably more. And the venue, staffing and equipment set up a similar amount. And there are many other costs that professional event organizers run into that players would never imagine. You cannot draw comparisons to normal pool events. What I could run for $10,000, I know a professional event company would charge at least one hundred thousand for. And I'm pretty sure a considerable amount of work has been outsourced for these events.

I've understood that everyone got paid from Vegas, excluding those who didn't want the check because waiting to get ITIN (international tax payers identification number) first, so they'll don't need to pay that 30% tax.

Thorsten Hohmann received his 350 000$, and everyone who waited there till the final day, received what ever they earned in NA-Open..

Well, it's nice to see that, but elsewhere on this forum, somebody said that his Filipino friends were complaining that they had not been paid from Vegas..

Marcus has yet to get his 30K.
 
Marcus is not the only one who is still waiting on Vegas money.

Think about it for a second, some of the top tier players in the US went out after getting their tour cards and purchased new cars or new homes. After all, they were certainly going to make $100K plus this year.

Now they are looking at the chance of not getting paid from Vegas. Do you really think they are going to come out in public and say they are owed money.

The $30,000 that Marcus is owed is a serious amount of money, but the amount of money that some players are waiting on from Vegas is definitely "life changing".

Everybody with properly fullfilled tax forms received checks from Vegas, understood I.

If Thorsten has received his, why wouldn't others?

What is this ITIN?

If he gets the ITIN does he still have to pay tax?
 
I know one big money winner (who shall remain nameless) at vegas who because of taxes, initially decided that the ipt should hold onto the winnings until his tax situation was remedied. This of course was voluntary. Ultimately, this player decided he would pay his 30% now, get his money, and after filing his tax returns with his deductions, try and get a refund from the irs. He figured if something went bad with the ipt, he would rather be owed money from the irs than the ipt.

Marcus did the same thing, but now he is sweating two checks. Personally, I think he is in A LOT of trouble.

Very poor decisions by both players obviously. First rule-Get the damn money and cash the check the first minute you can.

Not to mention-You are going to have to pay taxes if the prize is substantial so dont get excited about a witholding. If you cant wait 6 months for your last intallment (from the IRS) you are handling your money all wrong anyway.
