The World has got the 8

Hopefully this can be a good thread...

I remember reading once that Keith McCready wore a shirt that had "The world has got the 8" or somthing to that affect... did he ever offer it?. If so that is very impressive, especially if he took the cheese. I also hear alot about how Efren can give anyone 8-10 one pocket and is still the favorite.

Now we hear how great Orcullo is, but I am curious... is he good enough to give the world the 8... Is there anyone out there right now that can offer the World the 8?

huh

dennis can give the 8 to anybody! he plays the best for the money! bartrum had NO chance with the 7 none! shane asked for the 7-8 dennis laughed and said "to good we try the 8 again"shane said weve tried that twice! now 7-8! the game never happened! as far as the world, dennis can give the 8! like katt williams says "step right up! dont worry ill wait" not gonna be many takers, if any!:D

I don't think he can give Pagulayan the 8.
But, I think he can give the 8 to Archer or Deuel.

That be close..

Call him up in the middle of the night and he'll be there if you just want the 8 with a substantial wager.

Hate to disappoint you, but the 8 with those guys is hardly any spot at all.

I dont think he can give Corey the hognut either. I will call Corey tomorrow and ask him, but if it ever goes down then somebody has caught me for 5g's.

The world??

No one is doubting that Orcullo is a favorite, but when I started this thread I was thinking of some of the great USA players (already mentioned) and Intl players as well.

Manalo getting the 8 against Orcullo ..
Efren getting the 8 against Orcullo ..
Wu getting the 8 against Orcullo ..

I Would just throw money in the pot to see any of these match ups.

It is going to be great to see what happens with Yang and Orcullo

hasn't Efren been known to offer the 6,7,and 8, to guys at Bartrum's level?
I doubt that.
Back in '96 he gave Jimmy Wetch the 7 ball.
Bartrum is a pro not a regional biggie or shortstop.
Efren gave Gerry Brunsetter ( a good player here in SoCal )the 5-ball and the breaks back in '96 or so too.

To add to what Ironman said, at this level the Eight Ball means very little. It might show up once every thirty or forty games.

I doubt that Dennis would give any spot to players like Alex or Ronnie or Busty. They wouldn't ask for it either. But as far as the rest of the world is concerned, the Eight wouldn't help them, as Chris Bartrum showed in Louisville.

I seriously doubt he would give Johnny or Rodney the Eight Ball, but he may offer them the Nine in Ten Ball. Either way, if he made the game with them, I would bet on who I think is the better player. And right now, that's Dennis.

Players like Yang will keep challenging Dennis for World supremacy. Because that is what you do when you are trying to be the best. For the same reason that golfers want to challenge Tiger and tennis players want to play Roger Federer.

Dennis is The Man right now, because he runs out a little better and a little more consistently than anyone else. He has yet to show any chinks in his armor, getting stronger as the match progresses. In a single short race during a tournament, other top players may win against him. But if they play long enough, he becomes the favorite.

And by the way, for those who say he isn't a tournament player, I disagree.
He won four big tournaments last year with strong fields. The World Pool League, Hard Times 9-Ball, U.S. Bar Table Eight Ball and the Oroville Bar Table Eight Ball. None of the above were even mildly easy to win, as Dennis had to beat several top players in each.

If he continues to play tournaments (which he will), he will win more than his share. If they played Ten Ball, he might start to look like Tiger.

the tournament performance criticism will continue until he wins either
the world's or a US open, an IPT tourney win would have done alot for his rep also

He'll beat Yang easily imo, I'm guessing a Phillipines/Taiwan rivalry is starting to brew since they picked Yang, Busta, Alex, Efren, and Ronnie would all play him alot closer than Yang in a race to 60
