palmers are one of the best
I have a 74 palmer eight point, four veneers on each point 36 motherof pearl inlay and four mother of pearl rings. I used it as my main playing cue for years. There has been nothing that hits more solid that I have been able to find. I currently play with a six point southwest but the only reason is that the palmer has a 12mm shaft and I hate having to take care of the tip so often.(the reason being that the tip has to be in perfect condition all the time because of a greater liklehood of miscuing, I use a lot of english on most shots) I'm looking for a cuemaker who can make me a new shaft right now, but everyone has a problem with doing the MOP ring on it. I may just have to do it myself with a 314 blank or something. Oh well.
Jeff said:I bought an old Palmer a month or so ago and decided to go out and play a few games with it and haven't put it down since. It hits better and feels better than any stick I've ever played with. I'm thinking about getting it refinished and a new wrap because I know I'll never sell it now.
As far as the worse, I agree with several here that the newer Meucci's are awful for the most part. Mushy is probably the best word to decribe them.
