Was reading Billiard Digest yesterday, and this article was talking about the worst things in pool for 2008.. They had a paragraph on challenge matches on the internet being bad for pool.... paying two players to play uninspired pool etc. wasn't good for the game...Myself i think it's just a good way to promote pool on the net...Heck it doesn't seem anything else is working...Was just wondering if anyone else had read the article, and what they thought about it.....I don't make it to the forum everyday, so if this has already been knocked around then sorry for beating a dead horse...

OK, anyone who thinks that promoting the sport in anyway possible at this point is clueless. Unless they have a better idea they should really not say a word or unless they are willing to finance a different option they should not say a word. I have began promoting challenge matches here in my town where we don't get much pro attention, toureys etc. People have been shaking my hand all month in different places saying "good job, when are you doing another one?" People who were so so followers of the sport have suddenly become enthusiasts. This is all well and good but we still need the support from the community to make them happen. Hand shakes don't pay the players bills. The fact remains, challenge matches vis the internet or not are still bringing new fans and giving a boost to the game. My question is, how could it be bad for the sport??? I just don't see it. Every other major sport does exhibitions etc. why not ours?hardydson said:
Billiards Digest is so far behind times it's ridiculous. If they would have updated their message board years ago, AZ's forums may not exist today. Their forum interface is horrid. The other day when AZ was down I checked their board and was depressed by how boring it was over there.
