These new balls are (TERRIBLE)

Nobody can tell the 1 from the 6.... the 3 from the 5 or the 6 from the 7. I've been watching for 3 days an the announcers & commentators are lost as to which ball is what. I say ditch 'em.

I am surprised at the frequency in which they mistake them for other balls...nearly every rack!

They are terrible on the stream, but I see a lot of color issues in everything. Looking at the carpet, it looks like there's a ton of red. The balls, while not familiar colors, are at least distinguishable in person.

There's definitely something askew with the camera settings. It's surely better in person.

Anyone know if the commentators are close by and watching it or if they are viewing a monitor?

Today was the first day I had a chance to purchase the PPV, and I must admit I was thinking the exact same thing. They are horrible.

I thinks its both, I heard several times yesterday them referencing both the table and the monitor.

I agree, there's something wrong with the color balance on this stream. I've watched other Accu-Stats HD streams that weren't anywhere near as bad as this one. It reminds me of when color TV first came out. We couldn't afford one, so I'd go over to my friend Tommy's house and watch the Yankees play. The players looked red, the field was bright green, and I'd look at it in awe thinking, "I want to see go to a real Yankee's game if it looks like this."

I know HD video has a steep learning curve regarding lighting, but these colors are so oversaturated that I actually had to tone down the color settings on my TV because it was bothering my eyes.

We have it hooked up to a plasma screen. We tweaked every damn setting we could in hopes of improving color, etc. No adjustment made any remotely significant improvement.

here's your COLOR CHART/cross reference.
i don't know why they don't take a spare set of balls & set them in the booth for the commentators....

1st - we've discerned that the tint on our stream(s) is too yellow/red. which is why we can't distinguish b/w the CB, 1, 9, and 6. i don't know if it's the stream setting, or the incandescent lighting.

2nd - here's your color chart, according to our TV:

CB - YELLOWISH
1 - YELLOW
2 - DARK TEAL (BUT SHOULD BE BLUE)
3 - HOT PINK (BUT SHOULD BE RED)
4 - FUSCIA (BUT SHOULD BE LAVENDAR)
5 - REDISH ORANGE (BUT SHOULD BE ORANGE)
6 - LIGHT PEA GREEN (THEY'RE CALLING IT TEAL)
7 - MINT GREEN (BUT SHOULD BE BABY BLUE & THEY'RE CALLING IT ROBINS EGG BLUE)
8 - BLACK
9 - YELLOWISH (HARD TO DISTINGUISH THE WHITE/YELLOW LINES)
10 - BLUE

The problem is obvious...guys only know the primary colors sprinkled in with a pink, beige, etc. Fuscia??? Is that an ice cream flavor?

Best,
Mike

Can anyone tell me what the chat room is like? How many people, etc?

We have Pinky's computer cabled to the flat screen and for reasons unbeknownst to me, I can't access the chat on my laptop. :(

Greg and the person who makes the balls were taking feedback from everybody on the balls and especially the colors.

Personally I like the balls. I dig the colors. After I watched about 10 minutes I knew the 7 ball was powder blue. I also like the way they play.

When I first took up pool and watched youtube videos, I couldn't keep up with the game because I didn't know the ball colors. I made a cheat sheet:

Yellow = 1 and 9
Blue = 2 and 10
and so on.

It's amazing what you can do with a pencil and paper.

But I think federal law prohibits commentators from writing anything down. They don't know the ball colors. They don't know the score. They don't know who the players have played so far in the tournament. But they can talk for 20 minutes about why they lost their last match.

The only ball color I would change is the light blue 7-14; it looks just like the cloth.

If we (or the commentators) after 15 matches can't clearly discern the 1, 3, 5, 6, & 7 ball, then there is something really wrong with them. I thought "TV balls" were supposed to be easier to see on TV?!?

I think they should use the standard colored balls since we have HD video. They switched to TV balls before the video improved to what we have today and I don't think we need all the confusion with the TV ball colors anymore. Go back to the original colored balls!
