Yes I am saying it. Ever since the Viking Tour changed its format to a combined Amateur and Open format it seems like many other tours have followed our lead.

It's not just the format but also the rules. I just noticed that other tourneys are using the guidelines we set on the Viking Tour for Amateur play participation.

Now I have to say it peeves me just a little bit but it also honors my sound business decisions at the same time. Thank you.

What I am basically saying is that if you as a player or fan wants pool to survive I highly suggest you follow a leader instead of the copycats. Many others use the profits from events to line their own pockets (Not all of them but many which are those that usually follow in somebody else's foot steps picking up loose change are. You know who they are.) On the Viking Tour I am very liberal about spending money to, as we say, court sponsors. It's things like this courting process that have helped us to gain the most sponsorship of any tour ever in our industry. In turn we put most of the profits back into the events for the players or discount programs for the room owners but as always, the Viking Tour leads the pack when it comes to adding more money to event seasons and adding additional events for the players to compete in. We, I hope you support our efforts when given the choice between events to play in so we can continue our leadership role in the Regional Tour segment of the billiard industry.

Anyway,

My dad always told me to be a leader and not a follower. And to give credit when credit is due.

To the tours and/or events that have chosen to use our rules.

At least give the Viking Tour a little credit and say you are using the Viking Tours Amateur rules as stated at the below link. Maybe even a linkypoo to the rules would be nice. Mj

Mike i love playing in your events, you keep doing what your doing and we'll keep showing up to play!

IMITATION is the Highest Form of Flattery, and you only look at the INSTROKE Case that has been copies by how many.

As the saying goes... Imitation is the best form of flatulence...

Or something like that...

Most new people to the same business copy the leader. I hope all tours copy your rules...we could use a standard after 100 years. Johnnyt

There's a new custom case maker by the name of BARTON that makes some that are similiar. He might be out of CHI

John Barton was the owner of Instroke. You knew that didn't you?

Mike, I have played in all of tours in the Southeast, and I do not feel any of them have the determination and stability to last as long as you do...especially with an Open and Amateur division. JMO.

Are you talking about Reed and Barton? I believe they also make gift cases and flatware cases.

Imitation is the sincerest... oh wait. Too late on that one. :P

Mike, just keep doing what you're doing. Don't sweat what others do. If other tours are ripping people off, then the players will figure it out. Easy access to info these days (yay internets!) make it much much easier for folks to do comparison shopping, so to speak.

And the lowest form of thievery as well. I estimate that Instroke lost millions in revenue from the copies and I personally probably lost several hundred thousand in earnings.

Mike is right, if you are going to copy then at least have the honor to credit the source.

Rib?

You gonna at least put an "Oops, my bad!" out there on this one?

:D

Note: After several calls, PM's and emails I want to make it clear to every TD that is OK to use our standards for Amateur play. All I ask is that you provide a link to the Viking tour site where the Amateur rules are listed.

Thanks, Mj

Oh, your one to talk. I remember about a decade or so ago you stole my job running the AA tour the BCA.

LOL...... I'm just kidding. I declined the offer and you did a wonderful job during your time there.

I know what it gets like on that road, your doing a great job, truly. Your knowlege while out there week after week, is educating us all on what works and doesn't...your personal efforts are creating a much better product/tour thus improving on what McChesney started. Keep up the good work...hopefully Ian Andersons statement to the World Bodies will be heard LOUD AND CLEAR.
