Things you don't like in cues...

cues with a zillion inlays, shafts that have been bleached so white they hurt your eyes.

to me this is the worst. am i the only one that doesnt like black boar cues?

?????????????

My three pet peaves are: Shafts that are cone tapered an when you follow through your bridgehand explodes. The second thing would be leather wraps that have a perfect seam till you get to the very end then theres always a little tag at the end to giveaway the seam. Lastly an probably the biggest to me are your butterfly cuemakers that don't have a clue. Instead of butterflys they look more like tumors an the sad thing is they don't know any better. I think many a cuemaker has been ruined by his own greed by letting out cues that should have gone in the wood pile or been cnc target practice. If your not going to practice extreme quality control in your cues as cuemakers you'll only hurt yourself.

Rear balanced cues (at or below 18" from butt)

Rounded CNC points

Long ferrules

Not a deal breaker, but, wraps in general. Although, a slicked stacked leather sounds appealing.

fakes sold for high dollars

verl horns sold as bushkas.
authentcated by the seller that are not bushkas , knock offs. also stolen cues!

Most of my dislikes have already been mentioned except cues described as having museum/instrument grade quality woods.

Decals, especially wildlife.
Some scrimshaw
Aztec indian inlays
Brown phenolic with silver anything
White delrin buttcap on a sneaky pete
Solid black 1/2" collars on a wood/wood joint
Glue lines in veneers
dymond wood
ferrules over 1"
sticky lizard or sticky leather
super slippery irish linen
Purpleheart and any brown wood in the same cue
malachite, turquoise, or abalone
stained maple of any kind
HOPPE CUES WITH RUBBER BUMPERS
Cues below 18oz
Cues below 57"
radial pins
odd veneer combinations
single silver ring above and/or below wrap
stinky linen wraps
joint collar longer than 1"
half joints
ugly mottled babyshit yellow bocote
floating points
any type of rounded point or inlay anywhere
black w/ colored spec irish linen
white ringtail lizrd wraps
propeller inlays

Purple heart. I mean except for very little of it, what's going on there? Nothing.
Decals......the worst thing!
Linen wrap that hasn't been pressed smooth.
Shafts with a fast taper. Like a cone.
Extra long ferrules.
Rounded points and CNC veneers.
Glue lines.

I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks and 4 point 4 veneer hoppe style 5/16x14 stainless joint cues. NO 18 THREAD !! Bob C.

not everyone agrees, but thats ok too

There is not much I dislike as long as everything works together. I have noticed there is little pockets of preferred styles in diffrent places. Here on az it seems cues with inlays that are cnc'd or pantographed in are knocked alot, especially if they have rounded points. At the super billiard expo this year Jacoby's cue won the peoples choice award and it was a cnc'd cue with rounded inlays all over. At the international cue collectors show this year alot of the cues were cnc'd and most of the highest valued cues in the room were made that way. Traditional styled cues are definately strong in the last couple years but I still get alot of orders for cnc'd inlays where the customers do not care about sharp inlays.
As for me I prefer cues that show the natural beauty of the wood. I like a few nice inlays here and there but strong wood is what does it for me. As for what I don't like, colored plastic rings! I have seen a couple cues that they worked in but most look terrible to me. So, theres my 2 cents Chris.

hmmm

*Malachite, Turquois and Plastic inlays

*Rounded points

*Purpleheart, Tulip Wood and pink Ivory

*Black Linen wrap and Black and White linen wrap
