I live in FL in a super small town yet practically every player in the pool hall downtown is a 7 in 8 ball and a 9 in 9 ball... and that's if they even still play in the APA, half of them have gone beyond it.

Think Mike was a wee bit bummed when he typed the thread starter, he'll be fine once the hangover eases.
I shot the bb guns awhile.(My short stubby LV and HV always reminded me of the pellet rifle I had as a kid for some reason) Anyway, we always gambled small and for fun down in the swamp. Of course there was the nonoptional cash option that I ragged Geraci about too.
I paid Don my entry fee and asked him about the cash option. "You already paid it"
"Oh, that was the nonoptional cash option!" In all fairness he did know I always bought into the cash option.
I had a ton of fun with those guys!

Does this statement mean you are trying to trap all of us "no-gamble" Iowans? I just met you Sunday for the first time, you seemed like a decent guy. I would say you shouldn't judge a town's pool playing and gambling ability after only being there for a couple weeks. I am willing to bet you can get plenty of respectable action for many weeks to come...and you won't have to "lay down some."
Oh, and don't judge the rest of us based on your first gambling experience in Iowa.

...or anyone else in his family. Adam's brother is pretty darn strong too. I'm not very familiar with the Des Moines area, but there are REALLY strong players in the QC.....
Sorry to hear you're bummin about the pool scene though, hope things pick up for ya.
There are plenty of people from the Quads city area that would play him.
In the town he is in I am sure he would have his hands full with Jamie Fenton . I don't think he is looking hard enough .

Let's not be so hard on ol'Mikey. He's new to the area and as he said, "venting." Mikey isn't a worldbeater by his own admission. He's just used to around in this area where if you even mention pool, there's a hundred guys that will tee it up. I mean from Greensboro to the coast, there may be even more. Remember, this area is ridiculous for a breeding ground. Matter of fact, I'd like to know of another place where there's this many above average players within 150 miles. It's crazy. At one time there was Johnny, Coltrain, Jackson, Root, Earl, BJ, Little Tony, Chewy, Greg Brooks, Scott Lewis,Keith Bennett, John McCloud, Pete Horne, ah hell I could type all afternoon. It used to be crazy.

Nope no red rep from me . I have only used the red rep feature a few times and would never red rep someone for simply stating their opinion .
I think when he gives Iowa a better chance he will find there are plenty of games that can be found . Games from cheap to high dollar sets at Miller Time Billiards in Davenport I have seen everything from $2 a game to $50 a game . Wednesday is a great day/night to show up at Miller Time they have an all day special that is only $5 to play all day and all night ! Lots of people show up to get some practice in so there are a lot of opportunitys
to find a game .
