This is why pool in Iowa sucks

Nope no red rep from me . I have only used the red rep feature a few times and would never red rep someone for simply stating their opinion .
I think when he gives Iowa a better chance he will find there are plenty of games that can be found . Games from cheap to high dollar sets at Miller Time Billiards in Davenport I have seen everything from $2 a game to $50 a game . Wednesday is a great day/night to show up at Miller Time they have an all day special that is only $5 to play all day and all night ! Lots of people show up to get some practice in so there are a lot of opportunitys
to find a game .

Mike I hope things pick up for you in Iowa and I look forward to meeting you sir. if you ever plan a trip this way please send me a pm I would be glad to introduce you to some great friends .

Take care .... Larry

every Wed.? I have meetings today, but might have to take a little roadtrip on a Wed. to try it out. Only place I've been in the QC is Bowman's place (Leisure Time) in Moline. You guys in Davenport would take it easy on a central IL boy, wouldn't you?? :p Maybe someone would be interested in an early morning round of golf, and lunch and pool at Miller Time???

Nope, Larry is too nice of a guy for that. But I'm not. ;)

BTW Larry, are you going to Miller Time tonight by chance?
Maybe I'll swing over for a few hours.

Thanks for the kind words sir. :)
Yeah I will be there tonight by 3 or 4 pm
Hope to see ya there .

Larry

Thanks...that's the exit off 74 where the old Jumers was?? I know I've used Kimberly to get to alot of other places, but just trying to remember. The Front 9 golf store "was" on Kimberly before you got to the mall, right? Been a year or two since I've been up thatta way ;)

Yeah I think that exit says to Bettendorf its like two blocks off of that exit you should see Target store on your left at the stop lights stay in the left hand lane ( there are two turning lanes ) You should pass Golden Corral , Taco Johns and others just stay on that road . About 1 block before you get to Kimberly ( Burger King , KFC is on your left ) you can take a right into the parking lot . Drive past the bolwing alley and park there .

Also if you miss that exit you can take 2 Spruce hill exit to Kimberly you will then be only 2 blocks from Miller Time . If you get close and need help just call someone will help you .

Hope to see you there .

Larry

Thanks Larry, I'll post on here before I go....that way you can have guys start taking numbers (drawing straws, whatever) on who takes my money first. :p

Like I said, it'd be great if someone on here would be interested in a 7-9ish AM teetime, and pool afterwards....any takers??

IOMA tournament

You could come up to Waterloo this weekend while the IOMA tournament is going on. Masters singles starts Friday at 1pm, and after the matches are over I'm sure you could find someone to gamble with. There's an after-hours place a block or so away in case the tournament room gets shut down before you're ready to quit.

Still waiting to hear about what happened with Fenton...???

Karla...is that the table in your basement?:)

Just kidding...but I haven't heard of such a place either...not that I should have. Please fill us in.

Trusty: I will be playing a 14.1 league match tomorrow night at 6:00. Stop by & say "Hi". I'll be easy to spot...probably the only table playing 14.1. LOL.

I went to an off-site spot a few years back. My teammate had the nuts & I was trying to get a side bet with the other dude's backer. He told me he wanted to see a few games first.

As if you couldn't guess...my buddy goes off on a 2 pack right off the fliip and the backer said no side bets. My buddy put a few hundred in his pocket and I got the lint.

Pool in Iowa also sucks because the only dudes I actually like come to the poolhall once a week so I chill with lame dudes who think a J&J is the stone cold dead nuts.

Now what is going to happen when those "lame dudes" come on AZ and read this?

I am surprised that we haven't heard from Mikey again today.

I got a job offer once to move to Cedar Rapids. First thing I did was search here and found this thread: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=57244
Good thing I turned that job offer down. That and the fact that they ran out of salt for the roads when I was there for the interview. Google shows like 2 pool halls and a bunch of 'Billiards and Spa' places to buy a table or tub.

Go to the Quads city area. I'm sure Josh, Jesse, or Jon will let you bet as much as you like. But that would just be another reason why pool in Iowa suck, cuz you can't win.

He doesn't even have to go that far - just go to Burlington and try this guy named Whitey some.

Little far away to stop in and say "hi", but I'd be willing to make a day of the trip sometime, or if I'm working up that way....

Like I said, I'll post on here if/when I'm headed up that way, so I can meet some of y'all. Maybe next Wed., but can't be sure of that yet. I am the boss, but answer to the "other" boss (yep, the little lady :p ).

Can't be any worse than the last time I played up there - 10ball, barbox, vs. the owner's son - yep, that one. Pleasure watching him shoot, but that's about all I did. LOL

Pool in Iowa sucks also because there are no girls...yeah none...nope still none here.

When talking abiout pool halls, VERY unfortunately, this is not a phenomenon that occurs in Iowa only.

Pool in Iowa sucks also because you can get kicked out of tournaments for running out on players who play your speed..."Either die or go to jail that's a hell of a decision"

This also, is something that is rather unfortunately occuruing across the entire country, sad aint it? I know.

I love Burlington...had lots of fun there over the years. I like eating at Big Muddy's. I also like the Z shaped table at Sam's across the river in Gulf Port.

Pool in Iowa sucks because some fool from North Carolina had a brain storm that Iowa might be the pool capitol of America. Wrong.

Next time try Florida, New York or better yet the Derby City Classic, your sure to get played there.

Better luck next time.

Kevin

That was funny all the way around

Pool in Iowa also sucks because we had 60 players in our Sunday night weekly tournament. On average there are 30-40 every week.

Mike Bennett whats up brother, it's Frost we played first last Sunday...anyways this has nothing to do with the tourney, youre a good guy though.
