This is why you use bubble wrap people!

i agree no mention of the condition of the cue other that it rolls straight..with that said how can one expect a refund for such ? Shorty you buy enough on ebay to know better...there have been many posts about problems with ebay for years...BUYERS BEWARE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honest Sellers BEWARE !!!!!!!!!

Are you saying I am not being honest here? I knew it was somewhat risky...but still...I kind of thought based on the pictures it was not going to be perfect...but there are cracks BEYOND those in the pictures, both butt and shaft...and that is unacceptable in my opinion.

Shorty if in DEED Packing/Mailing Service was Used buy the Seller, they the Packing/Mailing Service should be Liable for the DAMAGE, as it was Their Job to Pack the Cue Properly & Safely for Shipment........ IMO....

Sorry to hear 'bout that Shorty!!! :( Ebay can be a real pi$$er!!! For a cue like that or any nice cue I'd have the seller use FedEx!!!! If you have any "issues", you don't have to deal with all the hassles like USPS or UPS filing a bunch of paperwork, and having wait a mo. to get your damage claim/refund resolved. NO, I don't work for FedEx!

Hey, you can have Blud refinish the Schon for yah! :p Sorry 'bout that!!! :o
It was in poor taste but I couldn't help it!!! My bad!!! :o Just ribbin' yah Shorty! :D

It makes no difference if that cue was shipped by UPS, USPS, FedEx or dogsled, the carriers are not responsible for the damage to that cue. The box wasn't bent in half or the cue broken, so why would the carrier be at fault for poor or negligent packaging? I agree, that the packaging is not what caused this damage but it happened either before or after being shipped. I believe it will be real hard to get PayPal or e-bay to give any refund on this cue. The description says nothing about the condition of the cue and no questions were asked about the condition.

I have no doubt that the seller had a damaged cue, took pictures to hide the fact, and made sure he didn't say anything about the condition of the cue.

I guess he figures a bad review is worth getting rid of a damaged cue, after all, that's about all that can be done where he's concerned.

And if what I think he did is correct, you can probably forget about getting a refund.

The whole thing sucks, but when you buy from pictures, this is going to happen.

I know I try to look at everything about the seller before I buy, but that's no guarantee, I know some day, if I keep buying through e-bay, it will probably happen to me.

You are probably dead on...I am gonna give Paypal a few days and see what they do...doubt anything...but never hurts to try. Regardless I am probably stuck with the cue and will give Scott Sherbine at Proficient a call and see about a refinish job.

I like the cue really...nice 6 pointer. I just wanted a backup to my primary Schon is all.

Shorty,

Maybe you should PM Brickman and ask him for a legal review of the situation? :D

Have you called and spoken to the seller? It may seem like a lot of trouble but I would make some kind of personal contact the anyone I was spending any amount of money with beyond just an email before doing the deal. I sold a Joss West for $2500. and I must have talked to the guy who finally bought it 4 or 5 times before the sale ended and everything was totaly understood and the deal went great. I believe he even called Billy and asked about me and when the cue was made and so on. It's a lot of money, you can't be buying pig in a polk.

Hey-shorty, I bought a cue from meucci and they don't wrap there cues in bubble wrap either they just put it in a plastic bag and a triangle box and ship it , I had shipped the cue back and fourth with them about 4 times and 3 out of the 4 times the box was really in bad shape but luckly there was no damage to the cue,

if the seller dosn't believe you about the cue why don't you invite him to look at this thread then maybe he'd believe you! just a thought

I could just see the blud on his grinding machine now doing your cue in zeeee, zerrr, brreeer

well `seller` may say that posting in the internet is a ploy to cover up the negligent action of the `buyer`.I am again playing the devil`s advocate to help one understand the dynamics of a `Litigation`.

I agree with the gentleman that asked, how far could it slide in the tube. I have shipped a lot of cues by every means and I wrap them, but I don't go to that much care. I have never had anyone say one came scratched. Those scratches were already there. Oh and good luck getting pay pal to help you, they are owned by e-bay aren't they. Butterflycues.

Mr. Shorty I am NOT saying you are dishonest .i am just trying to remind people that there are innocent sellers that can get taken too ! Not just buyers ..like people bidding on items and then not paying up...and all kinds of other problems...my statement was in NO means involving your integrity...i could tell you stories involving heavy equiptment (ie.excavators, bull dozers ect.)that buyers did not check out properly and were taken for Many thousands of dollars...99 % of the people on this forum are nice people and i just don't want to seeing any decent people getting taken..it's a remeinder for everyone..have a nice day Mr.Shorty

I agree. I ship parts all over the world as a part of my job. Those scratches look like they were there prior to the cue being shipped.

More pics....now my question is...if I do get it refinished, should I go with Schon or maybe Sherbine at Proficient?

Shorty

I don't believe you have a case as far as the few scratches go, you weren't buying a new cue and the wear is consistant with a cue that's a few years old. I think your case may be in his claim that it's a Runde era cue, I'm no Schon expert but I don't think this cue is a Runde era cue, maybe some Schon guys can tell us about that. As I already said I'm no Schon guy.

Yeah Jimbo, I am 100% sure its not a Runde, and I knew that buying it. But, it's more than just a few scratches...hard to tell in the pics...but its CRACKS in the finish that go inches long. I guess I will just get it refinished like I said...make a good backup cue of sorts.

You can buy the cue new now for like $620.00
http://www.budgetcues.com/schon-pool-cue-stl6.htm
He paid I think $410. +shipping. If he now puts another $100 or so into the cue with refinishing it, it would not be worth it. As a used cue it won't even be worth what he has in it. If I can't get a refund, I would just clean up the cue and resell it if I didn't want it. Maybe make a little or lose a little no big deal who cares. You can ammend what I wrote a little, someone just posted a site it can be bought for $505.00.

According to The Blue Book...

This seller is a flake.
Want Proof?

- Check out the feedback he left for his (GIRL) friend when he had her bid for the Andy Gilbert that was selling too low and outbid - Andy Gilbert First Auction

Then see this auction...2nd Andy Gilbert Ad when he sold it again.

It's just a refinish.

If all a cue needs is cosmetics - big deal! It could have come in with much bigger problems like warpage, internally broken, etc etc. Send it to Scott. Pay the lousey $75 and add $15 while you're at it to get the shaft cleaned and sealed. For $500 you have yourself a nice back up cue.

Better yet, send it to Blud - I bet he'll fix you right up.

I just purchased this cue off of fleabay and it arrived in a tube packed with paper...cue was WARM to touch and had fallen over on the ground even at my front door. I was worried, but opened the package to find it all damaged. Now the guy is in the process of deciding whether to give me my money back or refund me partially so I can get it refinished. If he doesn't, I am going back to Paypal and get my money refunded myself.

Here are the pics...people...PLEASE use bubble wrap and secure a cue when you ship it! Sad thing is, this guy even used a packing place to ship it!

Shorty

Hope it works out for ya...PayPal should reimburse you...if you were buying a Schon in particular, I'd have purchased from Erik...you would have had no worries man...

I also agree that this cue isn't worth a refinish, it doesn't seem cost effective, keep it, play with it, then and only if you love it and must keep it you should do a refinish, if not just sell it on e-bay. You never know you can lose a little or you could even make money, but to pour more money into it just doesn't make sense to me, you'll never get it back.

Jim

shorty just think of it as another adventure as you sent that cue shaft to Tascarella to have it appraised , what did that cost $ $ $ ya again ? it's only money

or you could do like bluebook said>Better yet, send it to Blud - I bet he'll fix you right up :D :D
