This is why you use bubble wrap people!

A banger at best...
Silver Member
I just purchased this cue off of fleabay and it arrived in a tube packed with paper...cue was WARM to touch and had fallen over on the ground even at my front door. I was worried, but opened the package to find it all damaged. Now the guy is in the process of deciding whether to give me my money back or refund me partially so I can get it refinished. If he doesn't, I am going back to Paypal and get my money refunded myself.

Here are the pics...people...PLEASE use bubble wrap and secure a cue when you ship it! Sad thing is, this guy even used a packing place to ship it!

More pics....now my question is...if I do get it refinished, should I go with Schon or maybe Sherbine at Proficient?

I doubt those scratches happened due to the packing. I am sure that nick in the finish in the butt was there before shipping.

How in the world did it get 3 or 4 inch scratches in it Shorty. Could it possibly slide up and down in the container that much?

Questions

I would advise them about how the packing had to be done to
prevent damage. Did he?
I would also have insurance on the cue. Did he? If so, he should
be able to recoup damages from the shipping company.

The sad part is it will take probably too much time, and a lot of
paperwork, plus getting someone to fix the damage to the cue.

I second the opinion that the damage in the pics don't look like the kind of damage that could have been done by the kind of packaging that you mentioned. Packed with paper might leave very fine 'whisker' scratches that would be shallow enough to rub out, but those marks look a little more servere. I think that you need to get your money back. If the cue plays well, and has no mechanical damage and it's worth it to you, then I would go with Scott. He does better work, and he does if fast.

Thanks guys...and I rethought out what you guys were saying and I went ahead and filed a claim with Paypal...asking for my money back or at least a partial refund to cover a refinish. I agree, this damage was NOT done solely in shipping...literally there were two piece of paper balled up inside the tube and that was it. These cuts and gashes are NOT from paper...way too deep. Luckily I used a credit card for most of the payment...so we will see.

I would just ask the guy for a refund. There is no shortage of cues to buy, I would just pass on this one.

The guy don't want to give me a refund is the thing...he says it was damaged in shipping and wanted to talk to his shipping place.

yeah right,

How are u going to prove that the damage did not occur in your hands as a result of your negligent handling?Playing devil`s advocate.

I have no idea...cause you can't know until you open the package, and then you are stuck.

Sorry to hear 'bout that Shorty!!! :( Ebay can be a real pi$$er!!! For a cue like that or any nice cue I'd have the seller use FedEx!!!! If you have any "issues", you don't have to deal with all the hassles like USPS or UPS filing a bunch of paperwork, and having wait a mo. to get your damage claim/refund resolved. NO, I don't work for FedEx!

Hey, you can have Blud refinish the Schon for yah! :p Sorry 'bout that!!! :o
It was in poor taste but I couldn't help it!!! My bad!!! :o Just ribbin' yah Shorty! :D

Shorty...the main thing you need to keep in mind with ebay is that it is
'buyer beware'. The guy made no mention at all in the auction to the condition of the cue and had only sold 4 items before you bought it. Take alook at his other previous auction
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21212&item=7170824924
In this auction he makes mention of the condition of the cue, that would have stood out to me on the auction you bid on.
I do see that the seller made the mistake of giving you positive feedback already. Now you can give him a negative feedback with no reprocussions. I say threaten him with $100 refund to cover the cost of refinishing the cue or negative feedback will be your first step with others to follow.

And this is exactly what I am doing...but I am also going through Paypal to do it, that way if he does nothing, I then have the process started to get my money back anyway. I wish now I would of waited and bought that Joss that just went up for sale for $150...geez.

Yeah, blurred auction pics like that and only a few feedbacks... that always brings up a red flags in my mind!!!
