This Just In: Porsche Design Pool Table

About six years ago I was talking to builders and they were taking me to some of their finished houses. One house we went into had an 8' table that they had custom made from scratch. It had an enormous amount of wood work and was beautiful to look at, they had a famous woodworking guy make the table. I almost laughed when I rolled some balls on the table, the rails were way to high and caused the balls to be trapped under them and I swear the pockets were at least 6", you could put over 2 1/2 balls in the pocket. I imagine even a banger could feel like a good player on this table as long as he didn't try any banks.

I found out the owner spent 100K on the table and it was his pride and joy, I am very happy with my Diamond table!

Me too. Love my diamond table and my 1995 Subaru wagon. When that car dies, I'm going to upgrade to a 1989 Honda crx.

If you question it, you're not the desired client. Porsche Design knows Exactly who their target buyers are.

Exactly, people who don't know the first thing about pool tables and have more money then brains.

Porsche makes an awesome car. and that's where they should stop.
That table is almost as silly as the cutlery set they came out with.

I love Porsche and consider the 911 to be the most timeless design ever to be made (keep in mind I didn't say most beautiful....there is no way I could make up my mind on that), but I find nothing nice about that table.

That table is no Centennial which imo is bar none the most beautiful non custom table I have ever seen. It's no Pro-Am either which I like the look of too. Yea I like my tables with a little meat on its bones......go ahead call me a chubby chaser ;)

Notice it says luxury billiards on the side.

The set comes with cues and cue rack. The rack I kinda like.

As others have pointed out, the table has a number of functional problems (legs blocking the player's stance, lack of diamonds on the rails, no leg leveling system). It is also, in my opinion, butt-ugly.

Despite its origins with members of the Porsche family, I suspect that "Porsche Design" has devolved into little more than a licensing scheme designed to lend the prestige of the Porsche brand to upscale consumer items. I doubt that Porsche designers or engineers had anything to do with this table, or that either the Porsche factory or "Porsche Design" has any interest in entering the billiards business or sponsoring events.

I wouldn't give $50.00 for it, that thing is fugly. They should stick to making cars.

I happen to have a folly restored 10' Centennial. All the rail work done by Mark Gregory. It will be set up this week. 4 and 1 half" pockets. It is stunning, so if you would like a much sweeter table, a little cheaper than the Porsche, let me know. Night and day, these 2 tables.

No need for any decorations including diamonds. No wonder the rack is closer to the middle of the table than it needs to be. I bet a lot of argurments will happen about whether a ball is outside the kitchen or not.

thanks for the additional pics! i was wondering if it came w/ cues & balls & rack. for $50K, every ball had better have the PORSCHE logo.

but this sleek, Contemporary table, et al, isn't for players. it's for Porsche owners. excluding FatBoy!

In contrast to the sluggish structure of common billiard tables, the Porsch Design has created the 24/7 pool table. Made out of aluminum and finest tulipwood, the table is crafted for discerning individuals with highest demands in terms of performance.

It pulls off sleek-chic with its simplistic nature. Its clean lines defy overwhelming design principles and define a new standard for shape and function.

The Porsche philosophy of "no need for decoration for formal consistent products" is reiterated in all its elements.

Every lacquered table includes leather pockets, a professional three-part slate, Simonis cloth, and rubber cushions. Its purchase promises a chance at customization and a within-8 week delivery along with a ball set (ARAMITH), triangle, bridge stick, two premium cues, and a cue rack designed as per the table.

Created by brand-founder F.A. Porsche (Porsche Design Studio Zell am See, Salzburg) , the 24/7 pool table has a price tag of around $50,000. :shocked2::shocked2::shocked2:

This will go nice with my highly overpriced glass top pool table!

Yep, you're notbthe target, and your snotty attitude about those who choose to buy (and can afford) them shows it. Porsche Design Studio builds many products with a certain design aesthetic in mind, and people who appreciate that design aesthetic are who buys their products. Yes, it's a minimalist design furniture table, that appeals to minimalists.

Honestly, how many "serious" players (although how is someone investing 50 geese in a table NOT serious?!?) can afford anyway? Hell, how many pro players can afford one?

You'd think that people in their position would've heard the adage....
...."form follows function"....

If they had put the legs on the side....it would make a better sled than a pool table....
.....and that's the ONLY way I'd make it to the hill on that monstrosity.
