This Song is For You!

A good friend of mine, one of Maryland's best at one time, Michael "Geese" Gerace would smile every single time "Still the Same" by Bob Segar came on the juke box.

Something about the words rang true for Geese:
You always won every time you placed a bet
You're still damn good, no one's gotten to you yet
Every time they were sure they had you caught
You were quicker than they thought
You'd just turn your back and walk

RIP, Geese!

Black and white photo credit: Taxi. Geese used to brag how he was third in the word when he came in third at Johnston City, but his real forte was one-pocket and engaging in games of stake from coast to coast. I miss him.

A photo Geese and I took at King's Dominion in Virginia while on the road. I wanted to hold the rifle, but Geese got his way.

I try not to start thinking about the ones gone too soon. The list is long. Not surprising at my age now but the list has been long for decades.

This is one that I usually translated as "man on the run" Good background music for playing but there were only a few songs that put a bounce in my step. I can't remember them now. "Maggie May" was another good background song. Late sixties to mid-seventies rock, mo-town, country from early seventies to back before I was born, never been real picky about music. Of course some things I simply declare not music.

The song that inspired me at the pool table was "Born to Be Wild" by Steppenwolf.
