That machine is awesome....and does so much more than I would have thought.
I can calibrate the rail to the sub rail...then Calibrate the sub rails to the cushions.......much better job on the rails now...than I ever did before.
Really helps with the anniversary and centennial rails....tops and bottoms of the rails.
Now I can make the rails the way I think the rails should have been done in the first place.

How do you cut the pocket opening to size without the rails being on the table, Mark ?
Let's say one wants 4 1/4 corners ?
How would you make sure all corners have that opening ?

That machine is to modify the rails.....that machine has nothing to do with the pocket openings.
I use different saws and tools for cutting the pockets and I bolt the rails to the slate in the shop....I ensemble the rails and castings mark the rails and then number the rails and castings so when you get the rails back....just follow the numbers on the rails and the castings......and everything will be great.

That's why I have the customers send the castings along with their rails....that way the pockets all match the castings perfectly.

So I'm honestly asking here, not criticizing, but from what you're saying, the rails aren't interchangeable? What happens if the rails aren't put back in the order they're marked for? How much variance is there in the spec from pocket to pocket? I know a stock table of any brand, there seems to be a degree or two variance either direction, so switching them can make a difference. Am I naive or wrong in thinking that modifying the rails could/should correct that?

Aaaah.
Thanks.

That's why you number the parts....just like the slates are marked.
Sometime the casting vary in size.....not by much...but if you pay for pockets all the same size.....that's what you should get.
Marking parts in the pool world is one of the first things you and everyone should learn.
Just as when you install a home table...or for that fact a Brunswick table...parts are always marked.
I tell my customers in advance...that I've numbered the rails and the castings. That also make it easy for them to assemble the rails and castings on there table....cause I per fit all the parts...so it goes back leith no problems.
So far so...lol. No one has called and said the rails play bad and the pockets are not the same.....don't mean it can't happen.....but that's why I don't use jigs to cut or measure my pockets....I fit everyone.

And it's a good question....it just takes more time...but it's worth it in the end.

That is one badass piece of equipment there Mark. Hey, I will be coming to GA to visit family for the Christmas break. Can I be nosey and come watch that machine work in person? I will be in GA Dec 21 thru Jan 4.

That's not a problem....but give me a call or heads up to make sure I'm in town....I'm doing 3 centennial restores and 2 anniversary tables.
I have to deliver 2 before Xmas.
I'm not sure when I'm going to be done with them and what dates I'm going to deliver.
Let me know....I have nothing to hide...

We'd love to see pics of those classic table, Mark.

Mark has advanced his skills way beyond what they were when he had that jig built. He can actually build the Centennial/Anniversary rails from scratch now as he bought a shaper and cutter knifes to do just that.

Don't hold back.
Steve Lomax says Mark's tables bank the best .

When a table has been built out to play at its best, it does so regardless of who does the work, but there has to be basic similarities to the rebuild in order the garner the same end results, a perfect playing pool table.

There should be standard in measuring their playability.
Like pendulum measuring device or something .
