It's an old list. He wouldn't have compiled it just for this thread.

jay helfert said:I apologize Oh Master Banker. I knew that would come out wrong when I wrote it. What I should have said is that there were maybe ten to fifteen guys you wouldn't be the favorite over. I doubt that you would have asked any (or many) of them for weight.
Does that sound more like it? You'd damn sure get up there and play them even, even if you had slightly the worst of it.
Hey, I was kind of wondering that, too. Do you mean they quit at whatever you were playing? Without sounding like I am questioning you on ability, I am questioning the outcomes quoted. I have beaten Johnny two outta three in a handicap tourney, and quite a few good players in non handicap tourneys; but, I wouldn't say that I beat them. When a guy steps up, you gamble at whatever game, they quit. That's beating someone. If you sent home that list you gave out, thumbs up and amen.Shawn Armstrong said:I love the response of "I beat them at least once...". Reminds me of the time my brother came home from university, when I was 17. We used to armwrestle, and he could beat me all day. Anyways, I had been working construction with my dad the whole year, and also had a 6" growth spurt. He got drinking one night with his buddies at our house, and wanted to armwrestle with me. He lost 30 times. Finally, he outlasted me and beat me the 31st time. Then he quit winner. So, you could say that he beat me with no weight at least once. Didn't matter that I crushed him 30 times before that.
He said right in his thread "I beat them all even at least once" What more do you want from him. He didn't say he busted them or gambleed em all and they quit. Geez.crawfish said:Hey, I was kind of wondering that, too. Do you mean they quit at whatever you were playing? So like ... he beat them one game, one set, one night all night. I mean that is one impressive list, there. That's pretty vague. So, once could mean that if I have ever beat a guy one set, I can add him to my list of people I've beat?BVal said:He said right in his thread "I beat them all even at least once" What more do you want from him. It is one impressive list and even if he beat them all just one game even - that is one hell of a list of players to beat.crawfish said:So like ... he beat them one game, one set, one night all night. I totally agree. I was just amazed at the list of people he has taken off. That's why I wondered on some "exacts."Smorgass Bored said:Imo... Freddy has played good enough, long enough and bet enough to warrant our respect.

One time I drove a golf ball farther than Tiger Woods.crawfish said:So like ... he beat them one game, one set, one night all night. I mean that is one impressive list, there. That's pretty vague. Corvette, can ya hook a brother up with a pic![]()
Guys, I get the impression Freddy took at least one set off these guys, not just a game....
Why did you feel the need to drop names? Was it to impress us? I can't figure out another reason for doing this. To me, it was woofing.freddy the beard said:If I spell it out in Russian would you get it then? I'll clairify one more time. "Beat Even." That means there was no spot involved. That also means that I either broke 'em, or finished ahead when the session was over for that day. I'm not talking tournaments. I played for cash money. Usually my own. Something else unsaid is how many of these guys I played in their own poolrooms. Why all the nit-picking? You have to be a good player to even know all the guys on that list.

PS On my new blog I will be pontificating on the sociopathic, political, and philosophical views on pool, and the world in general. I am now adding a daily tip from the Old-time Hustler's Handbook. A gamemanship section to soon follow.
That clears it up. To me, beating a guy means sending him away loser. Dude, I had no idea you played that speed. A couple of those guys are my heroes. Kudos. I meant nothing by it, the way I read it was "you beat them even, Once." Could have meant a lot of things, to me, that is.freddy the beard said:If I spell it out in Russian would you get it then?
