Unfortunately, the DOS in XP isn't a complete package. When I use my macro software for WP5.1, which is FlashFoward, the computer freezes. I can pull up documents and edit them in DOS on the XP computer, but transcribing is impossible. If I execute a WP macro, the XP DOS doesn't recognize it sometimes. Believe me, I have tried to transcribe in XP using the XP DOS, but it's faulty. It may depend on the OEM software too. I'm getting ready to purchase a new Dell XP computer when I return home for my Internet computer. Even though it will have the DOS prompt under accessories, I am doubtful it will be completely compatible with WP5.1 and FlashForward. However, each OEM software is different. My home Internet computer is a Compaq, and maybe the Dell OEM softwre will be more compatible with WP5.1 and FlashForward.
I may purchase a new laptop too. I'm not transcribing on the road these days, leaving that for my co-workers to contend with while I am out of town. I know that having an XP laptop will afford me some features that I can't enjoy with this Windows 98 laptop.
I'm going to get ready to go downstairs now and wake up Sleeping Beauty. We have to turn in early tonight in order to wake up early for tomorrow's matches. MANY players said that they experienced trouble sleeping the night before their matches. Keith said that he couldn't sleep well the night before his, tossing and turning until 3:00 a.m. Scott Frost, who is playing today, told me last night that he was having trouble sleeping too before his matches today. I think every single player is taking this tournament seriously and is doing everything possible to come prepared. Sleep is a luxury on the tournament trail.
