Thoughts on AZB

Like many here, since I got bit by the the pool bug, I've devoured matches and instructional material. I've spent much time learning about equipment, strategy, even etiquette.

I feel that I am very lucky to be alive in this time, where there is so much free exchange of information (not just on pool). Anything you want to know is right at your finger tips with the internet. And of course there are many great videos and books from individuals who have dedicated countless hours to prepare and present material that was once known only to an elite few.

But, without a doubt, AZB has been the single most important resource for my development, both as a player and someone who simply loves and appreciates the game.

We really have a hell of a great community here and I'm privileged to be a part of it.

What I have gained from posting (and lurking) is truly invaluable.

Thanks to all who continue to contribute to the community.

True

Exactly Lenny. There are a lot of great people here. That is what makes AZB what it is. Without that, it would be worthless.

I couldn't agree more. Since I joined AZB I've learned things I wouldn't have believed possible a few years ago, found some good places to play & most importantly made some good friends & been lucky enough to have met up with some of them.

If you love pool, you've got to be an AZBer.*

*Yes, I know. Sounds like the ads for the World Golf Hall of Fame, but it's perfect for this place too!

AZB Has turned into the place with the most diversity in pool forums. There are a lot of other good places out there but this one has a lot of folks who have been around the game a long time.

Some people don't participate here because of various dramas and that's regrettable but is still a part of life. You can get any question about pool and pool equipment answered here as well as any place else.

And that's what it is all about really. When I started on RSB (rec.sport.billiard) around 97 I was all about answering questions and helping out. Somewhere along the line I got into an argument that turned into a flamefest. If I have any regrets in life it's the amount of vitriol I have put out there on these boards. That sort of stuff ruined RSB and while I don't put myself anywhere close to the level of insanity that was the ultimate demise of RSB - that being the insane incarnations of Larry and him being fueled by others, I certainly have had my share of such flamewars.

I too have learned a lot from RSB and AZB. I hope that going forward I can continue to be a contributor of good content. Although I might still spark from time to time :-)

I have been playing now for 50+ years. this is one of the best forums that I enjoy. The deversity is outstanding and I have learned a lot just browsing. I think y'all have a winner here.

cheers------------BW

You're one of my all-time favorite people to run into on the tournament trail, and I would not have even known who you were if it were not for the Internet. Mainly that hellish site known as RSB! :D

Just kidding, RSB-ers. Just kidding! ;)

It is your wit and sense of humor that I admire the most. I don't know much about the products you are involved with, I must admit.

And don't forget our $50 bet. I've got McCain, and you got Obama! :p
