The cues were made in Chicago with Meucci and Helmstetter as cue makers. They are not "tiwan" cues.

Look in the Blue Book.

The guy selling them is C.Taylor.. nephew to Frank Paradise, the guy who made Gus and George household names. He has all these cues all original unplayed.. bla.. bla.. bla.. bla..

If this is the best he has...:p

These Nationals are the imports made in the1970's - they are not from the USA custom operation in Chicago. I believe they were made by Imperial or KPS in Taiwan.

The Rich also is an import. This cue is on page 670 of the blue book. After Rich closed down they sold to Imperial who had a manufacturer in Taiwan make the cues - I think KPS did these too. This particular Rich looks like an Adam forearm.

On those Nationals, when you get these cues in your hands, you can see the bad workmanship. The splices are generally pretty good but the inlays are usually crappy.

I guess the other guy was right then. I didn't know they had the "National" name on imports.

Yes, for many years. Those even could be from the 1980's or 1990's.

I don't know if the original National Chicago cues had any name on them at all. I have one (with a name and dated receipt, 1969) and it doesn't have a name at all on the cue.

I've seen quite a few of these National imports. If you look at the pics of the inlays, Scot's super sharp at filling them in but even then you can see the hand inlay work is terrible.

If I wanted to visit "The American Billiards Museum", I wonder where I would go. Is admission free, or is there a charge? What are their hours of operation?

Thank you guys, for asking and responding to this post. I just recenctly started collecting cues, and those three caught my eye! I was going to put a call in to a collector today and ask him about those cues, but you guys saved me that trouble. Thanks again!
